i cant see this fight goin the distance ima have to say lopez by k.o
Let's not forget, Lopez has power too. Gamboa isn't gonna walk through Lopez. It is a matter of who gets to who first because they both have explosive power. That Mtagwa fight made Lopez become a better boxer. Gamboa came in with the gameplan Lopez "should have" had when he beat him.
Gamboa is very very good, maybe something special, but so is Lopez, just because he looked bad two fights ago doesn't mean he's a bad fighter suddenly, that fight probably made him a better one. And Gamboa has looked bad before and been down before. So lets not rule out that Lopez may low and behold hurt him.
It's not gonna be a cakewalk for either fighter.
For you people that actually belive that Lopez could win that fight , I'm sorry but you must be either Puerto Rican or stupid. Gamboa is an experience boxer and a gold medalist who had over 400 amateur fights and only 2 defeats . Gamboa is faster, stronger and even smarter than Lopez. He has the experience to either outbox Lopez or knock him out. I'm sorry for being so honest, but I'm a big boxing fan, and I've been watching boxing since I was a little boy, and trust me there is no way in hell Lopez could win that fight, I bet my house on it. Lopez is a kid that just started in the professional boxing business 5 years ago , who had an amateur record of 126 fights with 24 defeats, while Gamboa only lost twice in 250 fights. I'm not saying that Lopez is not a good fighter because he is, but he doesnt compare to Gamboa, and that's the truth. Gamboa just became a professional back in 2007, but he has been in the boxing business way longer than that, and has been in more fights than Lopez.

I voted Lopez. But already I'm regretting it!
I was thinking that His height, reach and power would have Gamboa in trouble early but that would only be so if Lopez was controlling the range... Which i doubt he'd do.
He'd come in looking for the big punches and Gamboa will just dip-step-boom-boom-boom!

Gamboa KO for me.
Gamboa K.O all day for me - I was watching a highlight video of the two a couple weeks back..I honestly thought the Lopez clips were in slow motion! The speed difference is crazy - Lopez will need impecable timing all night long to beat Gamboa. I just don't see it happening.
Gamboa too skilful, too powerful, too determined.
First, welcome to the board!
You may very well be right about Lopez being way over-matched by Gamboa, but to say any Boxer can't lose against any opponent that has power, makes me wonder what kind of boxing you could have been watching all these years. Remember Tyson vs Douglas, or Lennox vs Rahman I? And IMO there was a much greater disparity in ability between those fighters than between Gamboa and Juanma.
Then add in that both Gamboa and Juanma will be thinking about the their outcomes against their common opponent. This could cut both ways: Gamboa's confidence could rise; while Juanma could find it impossible to quell the doubts that might creep in. Then Gamboa will in all likelihood KO Juanma. Or Gamboa could become overconfident, and revert back to his "I can just blow anybody out of the water and damn the torpedoes style". If that happens, Lopez does have the ability to catch Gamboa, just as several much lesser opponents have, but with a more dire outcome for Gamboa than what happened in those other fights.
First I never said that lopez would lose that fight because of Gamboa been more powerful than him, that's just one of the reasons why he doesn't stand a chance against a fighter like Gamboa . I do remember the fight between Doulgas and Tyson, but to be honest you know that was pretty much a miracle, Tyson knocked him down with a right uppercut in the 8th round, and that was no off balance knock down , that was a real knock down , but the kid just got up strong, not many people can do that , and that's what I call a miracle in boxing, not to mention that Tyson in that fight wasn's the same Tyson we were use to see, he said it himself, he had beaten everyone by then and he just thought he was invincible, he was partying a lot, he wasn't training as much as he used too, he was going to the gym twice a week and sometimes even once a week and that's what happens when you make a mistake like that. If you know about boxing, you know just by watching Lopez fight , that he couldn't beat Gamboa in a million years, first because he is not as fast as him , and I mean Gamboa is way faster than Lopez, way more powerful than him, and more experience too. Lopez is a guy that didn't even make it at the olympics, and who almost got beat by a club fighter whose name is Roger Mtagwa, while Gamboa knocked him out in the 2 round, and even in the fight that Lopez had with Luevano you could see that the kid just doesnt have the talent needed to beat someone as explosive as Gamboa, he just stands there and doesnt move a lot, and that would make him an easily target for a fast guy like gamboa, who also has a lot of movement and a powerful punch. I dont see that fight going to distance and I'll argue that with anyone, and neither do I see a miracle happening in this fight.

gamboa, gamboa, gamboa
one dangerous horrible bloke
I made a mistake. Gamboa had an amateur record of over 400 fights and 2 loses, not 250 fights.
This fight could be something special. Both have all the tools. I'm going to vote a draw, not because I'm confident that it'll go the distance, but because I simply cannot pick. Both are very capable of knocking out the other. I'm not sure that the Mtagwa fights were as good indications as some think, as Gamboa vs Mtagwa was later and he was perfect pickings for Gamboa's style.
Gamboa; bet the farm on it. He will straight out clubber lang Lopez into oblivion
