Watching Froch is just too bizarre, what in the world is he thinking about in the ring?

Mick Hennessy is completely inept and has messed it up terribly. I even read a while ago that for this fight Froch's brother was selling the tickets, and to get them you had to phone him on his mobile phone. Unsure how true this is, but either way the lack of exposure and gratification Froch has gotten is a joke. Many people could do a better job promoting a fight on twitter than Hennessy has done.
He may not be the best fighter out there or have the personality many others do, but he's faced quality opposition and had some great fights with a lot of controversy, excitement and drama. In reference to the main post, that's just the thing, everyone wanted to see Audley finally get put down and as the media and casual/non boxing fans had an eye on it it became more relevant, whereas from Froch there's little to no exposure and we all know to expect a great fight.
I'm expecting Froch on points or Abraham KO. Hard to predict as Froch is such a dodgy fighter, low hands but solid chin.
This fight then JMM Katsidis later on. Should be a great night.
I remember there being a lot of talk about this fight a while ago, but it does seem strange that no one is talking about it now that it is looming. Most people seem to think Abraham winning is a foregone conclusion, but I think Froch's workrate and power could win him the fight early. Abraham's just so goddamn lazy in the early rounds that if Froch can penetrate his guard while AA just stands there with him arms up, he could hurt him.
The problem is Froch takes a shit load of shots everytime he fights a world class fighter, I mean I'm still amazed at how he won the fight against Taylor. But thats what makes this fight so special IMO, you've got Abraham who has great power as shown vs Taylor and he also has a good solid defence due to his quite long forearms. He reminds me of Winky Wright for this, he had the long forearms and it made his opponents struggle to hit him to head or body. This will make it hard for Carl to land often which to me he needs to do to break Abraham down.
On the other side of the coin you have Froch who despite his lack of true classy technical skill has a will to win like not many others in the game today. He has a good solid chin but even when that does crack (and it has been) his heart takes over and pushes him to move on and survive. This cannot be taught, it is something you either have or don't. The problem though for me is everybody has a limit to how much punishment they can take before their body starts wilting under pressure and I'm not sure now how much more Froch can take, his style is not one that makes for a long career at the top of boxing and I think Abraham might just be the one to exploit this fact. One thing I will say though is Carl has the power if he lands enough, I'm just not sure he will.
I think it's down to Froch not being a great self promoter maybe. There isn't anything about his personality that really resonates good or bad.
When you look at some of our more popular fighters, they had divisive or strong personalities, and people WANT to see them either win big or get smashed up.
Look at Amir Khan and Audley Harrison, both figures with a lot of hate. Ricky Hatton had his grating man of the people act that many people adored and he was a popular personality, as were Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank before them.
Joe Calzaghe meanwhile was never really a massive household name until he smashed up Jeff Lacy about 24 years into his world title reign. He didn't have the abrasive or controversial personality of the others to make him famous for a long long time.
Froch is like that. An ordinary white boy. Fighters need some colour, in every sense, to make people care about them one way or the other imo.
He will only get start to get a big name if he wins the Super Six.
I just posted up some channels that are showing it but the lack of TV exposure is shocking.
Gotta feel for Froch really... he's an honest fighter and genuine World Class.
He always comes to fight unlike some other fighters we could mention
Abrahams power could give him real problems but remember Froch has a tough chin and has obvious physical advantages.
Can see this being a belter and once again the UK armchair fans will miss out on another great fight.
You'd have thought someone (Sky/ITV) would have got right behind him after the Pascal fight which was a great scrap.
I've always been shocked at how little respect Froch is given by some fans. It may be because they don't like him personally or whatever.
The man's fought Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, and now Abraham all back to back...then either Johnson or Ward in the next round.
How many fighters today have the balls to do that![]()
Though I am not a huge Froch fan, you can't hate the guy that much, he fought some of the best available and gives normally a decent show in the ring. I simply think that he's matched with the wrong promoter. Thus said, I am fairly sure Abraham will get the win but it doesn't mean that Froch ain't a good boxer and a fierce warrior.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Too right. He fights decent opposition fight in fight out and gives it his all every time. We can say he is just a bit too boring to be given any attention, but the truth is he interviews very well, and compared to that inbred Amir Khan, is as articulate as Oscar Wilde. He is extremely entertaining both inside and outside of the ring.
I don't think we can just blame the promoter with this, though it has played it's part. I really do think it is down to an ignorance on the part of people who 'follow' boxing and they are ignorant because the media has refused to take part. Froch has come up the hard way with no Olympic medals and so the media has simply not covered him in any great depth. They've missed the ball and never tried to play catch up, and like I say it is a travesty really. Froch should be much more well known.
You just have to look at the way the media covers music. Haye and Khan are the X factor muppets getting all the coverage because they were on the TV. Froch meanwhile is the edgy significant alternative artist that always produces interesting stuff, but the media ignores it. Which records sell? There you go.
its true there is a lack of interest
its a pitty because it has all the make up for a fantastic fight
who wins? abraham is over rated, couple of wins against mirranda, a win against taylor and a win against eastman by far his best, and most of his carear at middleweight, i think froch wins by KO
It's a shame he never got picked up by Sky, otherwise he could have been a big name here by now. I just picked up the December issue of Boxing Monthly today and there's no mention of this fight whatsoever. So I flicked through the last two issues, thinking it might just be because they'd already previewed it. No mention in either the October or November issues either. When such an even, interesting world title fight can't even get a mention in a boxing magazine it's a sad situation.
