Absolutely, or Canelo at 154. @ruthless rocco They are both legacy-improving fights too, whereas taking on the Guerrero's/Garcia's/Alexander's of the world don't do anything for his legacy. Isn't it odd that he won't even answer questions about facing Martinez? He won't even consider it as an option even when Martinez has been calling him out for years.
Martinez wont answer any questions about fighting ward.
Here's the point. No one will blame Floyd for not going up in weight. You can't blame a guy for refusing to move up in weight if he can make his weight class safely. I wouldn't blame Sergio for not going up to fight Ward. Bottom line.

However, if Sergio wanted to improve his legacy, wins over super middleweights, even average ones, are better than wins over average middleweights.

The reason why Sergio-Ward doesn't come up as often is because Sergio isn't the premiere, top-ranked fighter in the entire world. He's just a good middleweight. The expectations are much lower for him than for Floyd and rightly so.

Also, Martinez would be a heavy underdog to Ward at 168, whereas Floyd would be the favorite against Martinez or Canelo at 154. So, it's not like Floyd would be jumping up to fight a guy where he would be the underdog. This is a fight he would be supposed to win, but it is riskier than fights against junior welterweights; there is no doubt about that.

There are multiple posters saying that Floyd would wipe the floor with Sergio Martinez. You can't argue that at the same time as saying he shouldn't face him? For example, no one is claiming at the same time that Sergio shouldn't face Ward but that he also would beat him.
@ruthless rocco hates Sergio Martinez, but even he would prefer to see Floyd beat Sergio Martinez up than see Floyd face Amir Khan or Danny Garcia. I mean come on, it's not even a question.
