And Duran went up to 160 to challenge an ATG in Hagler and beat a good middleweight in Barkley.

But, I agree, there is no financial reason to face Canelo when Showtime will pay him the same amount of money to face lesser competition.

However, do we all agree that Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, and Devon Alexander are not as difficult opponents as Canelo, Trout, or Lara?

Any truth to Fat Dan saying that Mayweather v Guerrero did bad numbers? Might be the incentive for Showtime to push him to meet a Canelo etc sooner rather than later. With the five fights floating surely hes not going into a Martinez or Canelo right away otherwise.

If Floyd Guerrero did poor numbers and Floyd can pick who he fights then Showtime are fucked, they've signed an Alex Rodriguez contract. If Showtime can pick the fighters they should make him fight Alvarez next and Martinez after that. Floyd can potshot Alvarez all night long and win a wide decision and Martinez at 154 in his first fight back after a broken hand would be even easier.

If it's true that Showtime have lost money on the weekend fight then they stand to lose a lot more over the rest of the contract and it's likely the only way they can recoup some of it will be to slash their boxing budget. This could fuck GBP up. HBO must be wetting themselves laughing right now if the PPV numbers are indeed rubbish.
