Well, apparently in Canada, rather than teach their boxers to fight on the inside, they spend their time figuring out crafty ways to foul.
She was skilled and quick, didn't hit too hard, about average. She was able to time me well on the outside but by the end of the first round I had her figured out. ....then I listened to my coach....He was right, she couldn't fight inside but he wasn't seeing that every time I got close she'd grab my shoulders and push down and away and jump out of range. She was sneaky about it too. If the ref circled around, she'd switch sides she was holding and hit on the other.
The only time the ref called her for pushing was when I stopped and yelled "WTF ref?!" and he did a half hearted 'Oh, don't push' Then she immediately did it again and he never called it. She did it enough times to get points taken and DQ'd and he only called it that one time. I think if I had had a decent ref that was calling her on it she would have had to stop and change her game plan and it would have been a lot more competitive fight.
Everyone said it was close but I think they were just trying to make me feel better.
