Well, apparently in Canada, rather than teach their boxers to fight on the inside, they spend their time figuring out crafty ways to foul.

She was skilled and quick, didn't hit too hard, about average. She was able to time me well on the outside but by the end of the first round I had her figured out. ....then I listened to my coach.... He was right, she couldn't fight inside but he wasn't seeing that every time I got close she'd grab my shoulders and push down and away and jump out of range. She was sneaky about it too. If the ref circled around, she'd switch sides she was holding and hit on the other.

The only time the ref called her for pushing was when I stopped and yelled "WTF ref?!" and he did a half hearted 'Oh, don't push' Then she immediately did it again and he never called it. She did it enough times to get points taken and DQ'd and he only called it that one time. I think if I had had a decent ref that was calling her on it she would have had to stop and change her game plan and it would have been a lot more competitive fight.

Everyone said it was close but I think they were just trying to make me feel better.

Am glad you fought it. Of course wish you won it. It wasn't as hopeless as you thought, eh. I don't think anyone is humoring you. You truly did get a very tough draw, I've been doing my homework, and you sound like you held your own.

I've been on here waiting and scouring the news, but they don't really release much info. do they from what I've found. Need to be on the floor really to find anything out, or have a direct link to someone there.

Good job Sourpuss for getting it on.

Kickback and relax now, and good luck to your friend who is about to fight.

    Don't be disheartened!
If people said it was close, then thats a hundred times better than what you first expected!

I'm damn proud of you, you told us exactly what she achieved.
And you know what, when fighters get that good, they hurt people that are not menat to be in the ring with them, whether or not they have power.

I can't really admonish her style (I do that too,)but it sounds like you learned, it really does.

So jot down the names of the other girls and chase them for exhibitions!
I'll bet Youngblood, Wes and Sharla are all like me, we only wish we could have been there shouting you on!

Well, at the end of the night my coach checked the score cards and this was the score:

    #1 14-16
    #2 13-14
#3 6-20 (not sure what's up with that one)

So, one and two points. Not too bad I suppose.
She stopped her opponent last night at the beginning of the 2nd round. I watched the other girls in my weight and I could have beat any one of them with no problem. Our bout should be tonight in the finals. But I suppose that's how it goes. It's comforting to know that I'm competitive with "the best" but just for once I'd like it to be at the end of a tournament and not on the first day.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Means a lot.

Hey I've been away and not had time to come online - sorry i missed my chance to wish you luck!

Well done on the 5km run!

Also well done with your fight - i know some aspects must have been really frustrating but it looks like you handled it way better than many others would and I think you should be pretty proud of yourself!

I would rep you but i have to spread it () - hope you're not feeling too down about it - you've won fans here at least!
