Yep, he's a smart businessman too. I don't like these catchweights, that's all. Pac beat Hatton up fair and square and that was cool. I can give credit. Manny beat him up, Hatton was stupid but that's life. But to now try and use catchweights to secure advantages is really crappy and weak. It shows a Manny at the end of his limits trying to take what he can at the least cost. And as a purist, I just hate that.
would you give cotto full credit if he beat the smaller pac at 147? why don't they just fight at 140 so that cotto would get tons of credit and manny's belt at the same time? well anyway, this fight isn't for any belt i heard so i don't see why a couple of pounds would matter. if cotto wins at 145 he'd get more credit than if the fight is at 147.
Cotto couldn't make 140 unless they cut off half an arm.

I question the validity of the catchweight. Like I say if Manny wants to fight the WW's then he should go to 147. I don't care about belts or any of that. I like the parameters we have in boxing, I like the weight classes we currently have and would like fighters to adhere to them. If 2 pounds is really nothing then why has Manny demanded it? Because he is ekeing out any advantage that he can. There are few big paydays at 140 and Manny is on the cash out stage of his career. Cotto has agreed to it too, so in that regard you could say what is the problem? Both fighters are recieving huge pay days for this fight and the fans are going to get a fight they want. But that 2 pounds difference will always be there.
