I HIGHLY doubt it was $6 million. I believe the promoter in the article is making the point it wouldn't have mattered if it was $6 million because Sergio wasn't accepting a fight with Pirog. I don't believe he was literally saying it was $6 million.Originally Posted by FinitoElDinamita

So, Dibella said that HBO didn't express any interest in going to Russia for the fight and the maximum of the offer was $3 million.

It's probably a good business decision for Martinez. However, I believe Martinez's team are kidding themselves if they think they'll get a fight with anyone under the Top Rank banner. Chavez Jr. No. Cotto. No. Margarito. No. Pacquiao. No. But, let's say that HBO would pay Martinez $1 million for a fight against Macklin while Pirog fights on HBO against Geale or another of the top middleweights around the same time. It may make more sense for both parties to let the fight build up.

I have my doubts Martinez popularity in Russia is any higher than it is in the US.
