Pacquiao vs. Marquez III - Saturday fight/chat thread

Unfortunately I had a choppy/shitty stream so it was hard for me to see the punches landing, i'll have to watch the replay next week.

In view of how this 3rd fight seems to have turned out, there definitely needs to be a 4th fight. I know one thing, I was completely wrong about Marquez' not being competitive with Pac, and don't mind admitting it. It just goes to show, in boxing you never know, that's why we keep watching.

The Pac haters will be out in force tomorrow. Night folks..

I get your point, and regardless, I believe a 4th fight needs to be made ASAP, it would be good for boxing.

In my humble opinion, I thought Pac won (very close), though I thought Marquez was remarkable! My heart was racing throughout the fight and I found myself yelling at both fighters as I would have been happy with either winning.

I had long thought, prior to this fight, that pac would win against Mayweather based upon his aggression and multiple angles / accuracy. However after seeing this fight I sadly (I love to see Mayweather fight, just not a fan personally) believe that Mayweather would win fairly easily.

Pac could not turn off his aggression which allows him to look fairly bad against great counter-punchers like Marquez and ultimately the best counter-puncher, Mayweather.

I know a lot of people are disappointed in the results of this fight (Marquez vs. Pac), however I thought it was one of the most exciting fights I have seen in a while!

I agree. I have visited this forum for a while and LOVE boxing. Though a typical reader, I couldn't help but throw my own 2 cents in on this one.

I am very interested in others opinions either way. Regardless of who you think won, I believe it was a great fight, great chess match!

You also count a fight on a round by round basis. The overall punch count is oftentimes a pretty irrelevant statistic. It also doesn't highlight where the effective power shots are landed either. Everything is counted the same and that isn't how you score a fight.

Yes. They track "POWER PUNCHES" Manny landed more.. Not much more but more nuntheless,,

He was the busy fighter of the two.. And he was the Champ.. You always have to beat the champ convincingly.. It;s been that way forever.. I've already said that..
And Marquez didn't so he lost... NEXT!

Now this is a valid argument. But someone here said that you can't use punch stats when it fits one's agenda in an argument and be inconsistent against it in others. And I agree. People like to cite punch stats as a major part of argument that Pac lost the first 2 fights. And I think now you have a Pac defender here citing punch stats that Pac won in the 3rd fight, and someone here said you can't use punch stats for the 3rd fight. So which is it? Because there is a saying, you can't have your cake and eat it too or you can't have it both ways.
