I'm not a Margarito fan, but I did pick him to win and stop Cotto like he did in the first.
I was wrong. His eye combined with Cotto making some small refinements lead to a near shutout for Cotto.

I think Margarito was actually favored in some circles before the fight. Fighting at 154 probably had a lot to do with, combined with Margarito's tremendous chin, and other factors in his favor. No shame in picking wrong.... I myself was plenty nervous about those things going into the fight.
I would say, however, that Cotto's adjustments were considerable. First, his stamina was better than in some past fights. I credit the new Cuban trainer for that. Second, Cotto showed some lateral movement that had been missing from recent fights. Again, I think the trainer did a marvelous job in preparing Cotto.

I'm not even a Margarito fan, but I though he was going to knock out Cotto again.
Even during the fight, I thought things were playing out just as they had the first time.
Luckily, I was wrong. It was great to see a fighter I genuinely respect get revenge over one of the biggest villains in a sport filled with criminals.

He also showed a good right hand. I haven't seen Cotto that effective with a straight right hand since the Mosley fight.
Only thing about Cotto that disappointed me was the lack of body punching. I thought he would of watched what Mosley and Pacquiao were able to do when they worked Margarito's body.

fully agree on all points, IMO this has been Cotto's best showing since the Mosley fight, he just all around looked rejuvenated, most of his old form back, as you said more use of the straight right which packs plenty power (watch the Torres fight), but he didn't go to the body as much, it wasn't until he had the first 7 in the bag and that he started trading that he started to mix in the left under then back up top, if he would have stepped to his right while slipping off the ropes and turning Margarito process he would have been able to bang that drum all night, either way i'm just thrilled that he looked as great as he did last night really should knock off some of that he's finished or shot bullshit cause he didn't punch, move, or give any indication of a shot fighter last night
