(Sigh) yes because the Brits are so svelte and slender

Miles you might be skinny but you also cut yourself....perhaps if you ate more you wouldn't be so moody.

no...its not popcorn. he's referring to the fact that just about everything is now made from corn... and sadly, more recently, wood is making its way into many "foods".

The mental self laceration is a very occasional thing. It happens as commonly as Bilbo's nob shrinkage. A once every blue moon kind of thing.

I eat 3 square meals a day and I can fit down the supermarket aisle. Too many Western people overindulge in the former and can barely do the latter. They should moderate their eating habits more.

'Denial' over obesity health issues - Yahoo!

It seems that even fat people don't think that they are fat. They shovel pizza down their throats and then try to squeeze themselves into clothes that don't fit.

There is something amiss when a quarter of a country is shaped like an orange filled with blubber.

This has nothing to do with socialism really, but it does tell you that cheaply produced fast food is not all that good for the figure.

I don't understand people that cannot wait for a meal. When I was growing up, I was always told to wait and so I waited and then when I finally got my meal, I enjoyed it all the more. My wife is very svelte like me, but unlike me just cannot wait. Maybe I will say 'dinner will be ready in an hour' and automatically she will go and eat 2 bananas. Now I can only imagine the kind of carnage going on in homes full of these all too common obese people. 'Ten more minutes? Nooooooo!' Then they rip off the cupboard door and devour a Walker's multi pack of crisps.

Just wait for your meal and stop being a greedy bastard, you fat fuck!

    ruthless is correct.

the documentary basically shows how all that competition going on in your grocery store is essentially an illusion. While it appears there are 100's if not 1000's of companies all offering products and competing for your dollar, it couldn't be further from the truth. Most companies are subsidiaries of 2 or 3 major companies.

That the fast food industry has changed the nature of the production of our food so drastically it affects every element of the food chain. That because of subsidies for corn and how cheap it can be produced for, that nearly 90% of all food, including meats, all vegetables etc all food groups...nearly everything is in one way or another a corn by product. And again, controlled by 2-3 major corporations.

YB, since when did most people fall for that illusion? It is common sense that supermarkets have only a few providers and that choice for consumers is limited. It's a basic logic and is entirely correct, but most people know it. They just have no means of dealing with it.

In my city a McDonalds has just opened. Is this freedom or is it overall slavery? After all, we all have the choice to eat the food. I would argue that in a world where the choices are fewer then the grip gets harder. Just as you do, but it is a basic logic.

There were never any choices to begin with and they want to control every aspect. In some respects life did offer freedom, but seeing how the environment is off the agenda I think humanity is screwed and I will be a witness to it all.

Which book? You can't even remember if you gave it to me...you're big on giving people books and hour long lectures as your evidence I can supply you with some basic everyday examples that further prove my point....for instence in school I was horrible at math, all math, algebra, geometry, what have you. Well in an capitalist meritocracy if I make an F then I EARNED an F and if you miles got an A then you earned it. Either through your general knowledge and understanding of the subject, hard work dedication to studying, or being really good at cheating and my lack of all of the above would have earned me a failing grade. However, if our teacher used true socialism then miles you could work your ass off for that A and either due to my inability to grasp the subject or just outright laziness your A gets whittled down to a C so my F can be raised up to a C.....does that seem fair to you miles? Would I have actually LEARNED enough to receive my grade? Would passing me do anything but ruin the grade of the next hardworking A student? After a time of making C's while working for A's you would give up miles...unless you're psychologically imbalanced.

I bring up this point because the OWS members that I know were extremely book smart, one even went to Harvard (though a lot of good it's doing him now ), when they are in the classroom they ARE competitive, they believe in hard work, studying, making themselves ready for the tests....but when it comes to life they've got their hands out, they've given up on themselves and they've become disillusioned with the world outside of being the teachers' pets. I was taught an important lesson early on in my life "LIFE IS NOT FAIR", it's a harsh reality but it is the 100% absolute truth, yes there will be trust fund babies born with the silver spoon in their mouths, but they had better work hard not to lose their fortunes because it can be got as fast as it came to them, probably faster, I've seen it happen with my own eyes.

And speaking from a behavioral psychology standpoint capitalism simply makes more sense than socialism.
