He made three successful title defenses before losing it to Aaron Davis in a thrilling 9-round contest.

Breland was rocked with a jab in the 1st round but had Davis eye swollen. Breland was knocked down in the 4th with a left hook but was generally winning the fight. The ref nearly called off twice because of injuries to Davis' eye before Breland was knocked out in round 9 with a huge right hand.

What are peoples memories of that fight?
I don't recall much about that fight Master, I just recall that Breland was a bit of a disappointment as a Pro, after being a Gold Medalist for the U.S. at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Aaron Davis had a lot of potential, but never really lived up to it at the championship level, his main claim to fame was the knockout of Breland.

Remember Breland coming over here and finishing Lloyd Honeghan in impressive fashion.

Yeah, that was one of Breland's best performances. Like I said, Breland was suppose to be the next big thing as a Pro, another Gold Medal winner at the Olympics. He had a bit of success at the Championship level, but then got KO'd a few times, never lived up to his potential, and faded into oblivion. I always thought Breland was an overachiever.

Any success is good, think he is still involved in the game and is a good guy.
