No, I'm trying to say your country has embraced the guys who are solid competitors but just can't get it done...examples: England National football, Prince Naseem Hamed, Kirkland Laing, Herol Graham, Gary Mason.
    I love Herol Graham.

Use to go to camp with Frank, last 2 years. One of the nicest Guys you could meet. Was Great in the Gym Sparring, but lacked confidence in Himself. As I learned from the many talks I had with Him over time. But was great for the Game in England.

No it isnt really. Forget the England football team, thats done out of obligation and rightly so, everyone knows we're mediocre. Only Naz could be mentioned in the same breath as Bruno in terms of popularity, as talented as people like Graham and Laing were they were Unibond league compared to Naz and Bruno. Mason wasnt even Unibond.

Naz was a global superstar who didnt quite live up to his potential, he still managed to win umpteen world titles and retire with a squillion quid in the bank losing only once to an all time great.

Im not sure what more your trying to add? Yes English people love the English football team, thats the way it should be, the alternative is to be like CutMeMick and pick another nation to support, there is a third option, shoot yourself in the face? It doesnt matter iwe win anything or not, thats not whats being discussed here.

Why does everyone hate Audley Harrison so much?

Even if you're right it beats throwing our lot in with a couple of pale boring robots from thousands of miles away purely because they win. That for me is proper sad.

You are being a bit off with your generalisations about the Brits, Lyle. Bruno was a solid pro and people got behind him. Sure he wasn't the best in the world, but so what? Hatton was world class, Calzaghe was world class, Lewis was world class. Brits are not perennial underachievers at all. We do very well for a small nation with only a quarter of the population that you have. You have to factor that in. Britain is a small country that has historically risen above its station and you can apply that to many areas including sports.

Whereas you love a winner even if you have no connection with them at all. Ukrainian Boxers , English Football Teams, what next? is it gonna turn out that you were always a big Phil Taylor fan and always had a thing about Chinese Divers?

No, it's just that not EVRYTHING I enjoy HAS to be American. I give credit where credit is due. I don't just glom on to a fighter from my country simply because he's from my country....Floyd Mayweather Jr. P4P the best fighter in the world right now, American, and I dislike him...If Floyd was British we'd never hear the end of it.

I'm not being mean to you guys or anything...just proving a point. You are total fans, you stick with your sides no matter what, and that's great...I do the very same thing. But you CONSTANTLY overrate your talent....GOLD MEDALIST Audley Harrison (no one mention he was 28 and fighting teenagers), firing Fabio Capello because obviously he knows nothing of football , .....I don't know, sometimes you guys just set yourself up for failure...we've done it before too see Jeff Lacy or Michael Grant or Andy Roddick...it just seems we don't do it as often....great that your nation can be galvinized by sports so simply though...it's just oh I don't know a little annoying especially after the whole David Haye ordeal, lord Jesus, I hope the next best boxer chooses not to act like that. Audley Harrison was God awful too.

Again, I'm not picking on you...we've done the same thing as well........just not nearly as often or to the extent that you've done it

He's a really nice guy & a credit to boxing.

I still have a McDonalds receipt that he signed for me in 1993, when I saw him in McDonalds in Hornchurch, with his wife & daughter.
No way would Bruno visit a McDonalds. Anyone going to start a missing Herbie Hide thread or Henry Akinwande.
He was in there with his wife & daughter; maybe it was for their benefit.

I certainly won't be starting a thread to say I'm missing Hide or Akinwande, but I'm sure they have fans out there, which is against any laws that I'm aware of.
