Im with you on them as good names but honestly as far as top quality fighters both had recent blemish. Johnson was straight up shop worn and getting hurt and dropped by Beleno and Badillo. I just never bought Vasquez as a feather. His Rojas title win was a helluva ko but he had an obligation to give Rios who boxed his ears clean off in a robbery a rematch instead of ditching strap but yeh money talks.

Naz can only beat the fighters in front of him and Tom Johnson was like Holfield, no matter if they put him down he got up and beat them. Naz decisively stopped Johnson, Vasquez (who and recently beat Orando Canizales).

Naz beat the fighters convincingly even if they had mileage on them which to me means he would have beaten them anyway at that time. Hat was his peak, he stopped Medina who was rarely stopped.

No. Thats a stretch my porno Yoda homie . Holyfield was beating hof'rs and 'known' solid names...Johnson was beating Troy Dorsey and the same Medina, respectfully. Vasquez beat (?) Canizales 3 plus yrs earlier in a lighter weight class...right after a 10 fight pro Sergio Reyes had arguably done the same in a crappy hometown decision. Vasquez doesn't get his props all around imo, he was an awesome fighter but I thought Orlando even beat him by a couple.

Not saying Hamed doesn't get the due for knocking around guys that were passed the expiration date but cant forget perspective. Shit looking at it, considering where each was at time and aftermath you might say he deserves more props for ko'ing a Medina and went on to have some solid 'wins'

That is what I was implying stopping Medina, who went on to be champion a couple of times later shows what a good performance that was. OK may have exaggerated Ton Johnson ability, but the man just refused to be beaten. That Naz would have done better against Barrera and he would not have been afraid to take on JMM.

    That's a fact.

If you offer a fighter a career high payday and home advantage and no rematch clause and they can choose the gloves and pick the referee yet they point blank REFUSE to fight what can you do?

With hindsight, Marquez knowing he goes on to be an all-time great, there's no doubt whatsoever he would have took a stunning one round KO loss to Naz just for the money. Fact.

    Nothing wrong with a loss.

So whats the crack then chaps? We all agreed that Naz was fucking awesome and it was gods will that he didnt get to spark Marquez and that he lost to Barrera (the cheat)?

    Nice.
