I loss a lot of money beting against Hopkins. He surely made me respect him. So I can't go against him. But if anyone can beat him decisively, it has to be Dawson.

Who wins?
Did you forget that Pascal already hurt and beat Dawson fairly comfortably?
That's a joke, right? It was a close fight. I'm not saying Dawson won, but he would have if he hadn't taken off the entire middle of the fight. That inclination is his real problem, as someone else here pointed out. If he is truly amped for a fight and fights every round, he dominates the division -- including this version of Hopkins, and definitely including Pascal (and Cloud). I think he's hungry enough for this particular fight that he'll do so. Beyond that, who knows -- bad habits die hard.

Being a fan of slick boxers, I still hope Dawson can step up and fight at his full potential going forward. At his best, he is an elite level guy. I may be in the minority, but I thought the win over Adamek was actually quite enjoyable to watch.
Did he really take the middle of the fight off or can he just not fight for twelve rounds? Somehow I think he'll be taking rounds off against Hopkins too. I definitely see this one going to points after both guys have successful rounds but Hopkins getting the decision.
That is the question, true. But I tend to think it's more the former. It's true that he gets lazy too often. But the Pascal fight was particularly bad. He fought harder and more consistently against Johnson, Tarver, etc. And Johnson, at least, was way busier and put on way more pressure than Pascal -- so I don't think it's a stamina thing (plus, he was coming on strong at the end of the Pascal fight, once he realized he needed to -- clearly had plenty left in the tank). It's more like he gets bored/complacent, and figures he'll just win because he's more talented.
The ason Dawson struggled so badly with Pascal is that Pascal has speed and he was catching and hurting Dawson. Pscal is a decent puncher, he put Hopkins down a couple of times. Dawson was intimidated by Pascals speed and it made him hesitant to work, like Jones opponents used to be. He wasnt used to it after the old plodders hed faced. He got found out against Pascal and Calzaghe would have made him look like what Hopkins did to Pavlik.
I can't take this seriously -- you just compared Jean Pascal to a prime Roy Jones.

Happy to take any bet you want to make if and when Dawson-Pascal II happens.
