I felt like DAwson had 6 clear rounds. BHOP 2 clear rounds. 4 rounds that were close (2 of those I shaded BHOP. 1 I shaded Dawson. 1 I have no idea).

My card ends up 7-4-1 for Dawson.
I had it Dawson 8-4 in rounds.

I knew Hop would bitch/whine about the decision, fucking asshole, don't give your opponent any credit, right Bernard?
Did you see Dawson turn to the ref like he was trying to borrow money...instead of maybe attacking and furthering a advantage. Dawson left a trail of tears in his interviews
I'm not a Dawson fan by any means, but I do think he had a point about the headbutts. I wouldn't say that if Hop hadn't been doing this same shit his whole career. At least Dawson had enough maturity and class to give Hop some credit after the fight, instead of leaving the ring like an infantile douche.
As opposed to saying he felt the decision was wrong on the mic? Bit of screwed either way to some fans who might say he was just as sore loser and just want to hold the door open for him wouldn't ya say. Headbutts to one degree or another happen in most fights and for Dawson to continue to piss and moan even after winning the title is every bit a punk move. I had it 7-5 but for people to act like Dawson was commanding the call is off. He coasted and, per norm.
You're one of my favorite posters here but, to go Jim Gray on you, I think you're way off here. I thought it was an easy fight to score and 117-111 was exactly right. The fight wasn't remotely close. I like Hopkins a lot but I just felt sad watching him tonight. 90% of his fight was leading with his head and one right hand into a grappling hold (and that's not getting inside to do work, it's just straight-up holding). He was pretty much entirely responsible for it being a terrible fight to watch. Add the headbutts and yeah, I'm with Dawson 100%. I would have complained too -- Hopkins made him look bad not with skill but with pure spoiling, in the worst way. It was a sad way for an all-time great to go out. I wish he had retired after the Pavlik fight.

I've been saying since the Super 6 that Dawson/Ward is the most meaningful fight within the 160-175 divisions -- I was happy to hear Dawson call Ward out. That fight will also not be pretty but I really hope it happens. It's both fighters' biggest chance of losing -- don't see that happening any other way.
Well Mr. Grey (your cool but Grey is a kook) not to go Teddy but...You are clear as big a Hopkins fan as I am, this was no robbery and Dawson deserved the win...right? That said there is nothing worse than a winner making excuses as to why he looked mediocre or why an opponents 'style' put him in that position. If someones really pissing you off Chad....punch him in the mouth. Dawson doesn't get a pass on that just because its Hopkins in the other corner. He too fought from the backseat in large spots and when he had Hopkins in a vulnerable spot along the ropes twice he took his foot off the gas. He settled. I mean when your corner has to encourage by telling you to do like Joe Calzaghe, come on. Didn't matter if it was Hopkins "headbutt" or that left hook opening up Dawsons right eye. It could be Hopkins or a Pascal who he literally had out on his feet for a moment and what did he do...he stepped back. He settled. I call a fight strictly from a fighter a and fighter b point and give credit during rounds where I feel its due, regardless of what a prideful stubborn ahole a dude may be. Hopkins inability to give two shits as to what the fans think of him as much as his reserved sniping from perimeter that has seen him turn 47 in the ring has often come back to bite him on the arse and style wise its costs him rounds but he was hardly in there just to spoil or merely survive. He was touching Dawson in the clinches and that lead right found a nice home in spots...BOTH were warned for infractions and Dawson was missing plenty. The right man won the fight and good to see that but like I said I'd rather see Hopkins fight a Hopkins pace at 47 than Dawson do it at 29, and In my opinion he could have done much more but I do honestly think we have seen Dawson get as 'hot' as he's going to get in there.
