It is indeed the end of an era, and in a way starting his own boxing career at the same Brewster community centre at which Joe Louis trained puts him firmly in that legacy of greats who fought or trained out of Motor City, along with Eddie Futch and his fighters too.

Sad thing is that I live near Detroit and it really has not been getting alot of press. His sister has already started taking stuff out of the gym for fear of vandals and a dozen or so boxers will have to relocate. It truly is the end of an era and the only thing that keeps getting press is the stupid world series. The Detroit of today seems to not appreciate the sport of boxing or the legends it has produced. R.I.P Emmanuel Steward and the Kronk gym legacy.
