To be SHOT....considering how many guns there are in America vs how many there are in England "60 times more likely" ain't all that great a statistic

All things considered... I'll choose the "60 times less likely".

Maybe they should outlaw crime....then there would be less of it

I'm not comparing the UK to the USA. Crime has always been a problem here. On my trip in 82 I could walk the streets of London after dark with no worries. My American friend tells me it's really bad there. I just want to know what changed over the years?

No no no, that's not what you're asking, you're asking about gun rights in America.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Are you joking sir. I said nothing about guns. Gun or no gun crime is crime. I've never lived in the UK. Just went for 2 days. I had a great time. I love the UK. Just wanted to know what has happened over the years. Others had said no jobs and low wages which is the same reason as the U.S. Thank you Margaret Thatcher and the right wing bullshit that does more harm than good.

It all depends where your walking about at night in London. There are rough areas in London just like there are in the US and the rest of the world.

You could draw a lot of different conclusions from that link. Like I said..."Pliable". Lets be honest though, what did you expect the Home Office to say? "Yeah we got a real shit hole over here." Worse, better, the same; regardless, the UK does seem to have a problem with violent crime worse better and the same as places in the US.

With respect, you know not, that of which you speak. It would be very convenient and helpful for you and your pro gun owning agenda if what you said was true, but it isn't. Our Police force does not want to be armed, our civilians do not want to be armed.

I don't claim to know a lot about the UK nor do I care about firearm ownership in the UK but the link I posted seems pretty clear. I'm not trying to promote any agenda in this thread but it seems one is more likely to be a homicide victim in the US, much more likely to be shot in the US but more than twice as likely to be a victim of a violent crime in the UK. I have no idea how "Nation Master" collects their data but at face value it pretty much supports my previous posts.

And you can argue in favor of gun rights in the U.S. without affecting your credibility, because that's all it is, your opinion. However, when you begin trying to play semantics with statistics to prove that violent crime in the UK is somehow comparable with violent crime in the U.S., well............
