As long as Cotto stays there and smothers him after he throws combos he should be relatively safe. If he pulls straight back out like he puzzingly did against Mayweather I see him getting caught right on the end of Canelo's punches. If he tries to outbox/punch him I see the same thing happening except he tires and gets pummeled into submission. Either way it would be an interesting fight.
Cotto doesn't have the chin to hang with Canelo.

Cotto would get battered by Canelo if they were to fight today..

He might even quit and get on his knees in front of a Mexican just like he did before..

Canelo would beat the dogshit outa him.

If Cotto fought Alvarez today he'd still be the toughest opposition Canelo has fought to this point

Canelo has been a work in progress, improving every fight, I have been impressed with his development

But he has fought no one of note

The scary thing is (& no Canelo fan has responded to my question in the other threads) he has never fought a significant southpaw, let alone a significant opponent

Trout is a lefty with excellent movement, creates distance & has a jab that control a fight

Does the fact that Canelo hasn't fought any good southpaws worry his fan?

Get a grip. There is nothing Alvarez has done to suggest that he beats the shit out of Cotto albeit a weaker version. He has not even fought 1 legitimate jr middleweight unless you consider that fiasco with Rhodes legit. Lets see how he deals with Trout. And people call Broner a hype job.

I cant even comment on the quitting on his knees comment as its so ridiculous.

Cotto has said he wants to come back and fight in November(round about time). IMO, he is letting the loser of Canelo vs Trout know, he's next. That's if the winner is Canelo and he gets the Mayweather fight. His other option is to bait Ishe Smith with big money to fight for the IBF title.

Cotto will go for one of the alphabet titles then try and lure Saul into a big money fight.

I'll comment on it for you.

This guy has been pushing this agenda since Day One. Never mind that Cotto has been the ultimate warrior and has ducked no one. Never mind that he was obviously getting hammered by plaster cast wraps. This is the type of fan who could give a shit whether a fighter gets killed in the ring, even by illegal methods. It's obvious he's never stepped on a ring himself. Ignorance personified.

Cotto's not really a legitimate Jr. Middle either. He's also badly faded and has a suspect chin. I am far from a fan of Alvarez, but I think he beats Cotto. He`s just too big and too strong.

Although Cotto has fought some big names, that doesn't necessarily make him an " Ultimate Warrior " .. lol It's more about how one handles themselves in the heat of battle that defines who they really are..

The first time when i realized that Cotto wasn't a balls to the walls fighter was when he faced Lovmore Ndou in 04.. Ndou really pushed him in the late rounds and surprisingly, Cotto got on his bike and stopped fighting.. Ok, so that was his first test at 140 but the fact is,as soon as he met someone of similiar size, he wasn't so brave anymore..

After, there was a pattern in his fighting style because he kept doing it. Whenever things got heated , he'd continuously get on his bike ( against Mosley and some others i can't remember )...

What about against Zab? When he ate that thunderous uppercut and was on the verge of getting knocked out, what did he do?? He got desperate and resorted to LOW BLOWS which is cheating ( Tito Style ) ..

Cotto is a good boxer but he's certainly not an ultimate warrior like the Pacquiaos and the Marquez.. not even in the same stratosphere..

And u need to stop crying about the Margarito fight cuz there is no evidence of him being wrapped up against Cotto.. That's just the bitterness in you talking, Tito, and u are starting to sound like a sore loser and a bitter ex girlfriend.

Margarito owns Cotto.. Tell me im wrong.

There's a reason it's called the sweet science finito

As to the dirty tactics... great fighters find ways to win

    Cotto retiring Margarito is paramount

There's a way to box without backtracking in your track shoes, Galaxy.. Watch Floyd, James Toney, or Marquez..

Cotto retired Margarito is the most asinine thing ive heard. lol whatever makes u feel better man.

Ultimately, Pacman retired Margarito by turning him into a one eyed jack..

Cotto just feasted on the leftover.. He fought a handicap and still fought scared and needed the ref/doctor's assistance to get himself a stoppage victory..

    Did Antonio fight after Pac?

    Has he fought after Cotto?

I'm not even a Cotto fan, these are just basic facts.

Sure Pac might have softened him up but Margarito should have never fought again after the plaster debacle imo

So imo Mosley's brutal KO should have really been the end of him!

Finito, you are wrong on this one. Cotto boxed superbly well and won the fight legitimately against Margarito the second time they fought.

With total respect and given where he is at last out, Cotto should not be thinking of Canelo. This will for sure be his last run at the top and in a year...less...more...whos to say Canelo will be the Golden goose he is tonight. One thing at a time. Even bigger Alvarez needs to keep Cottos name out of his mouth and be %100 focused on convincingly beating the man who spoiled his breakout payday in the first place in beating Cotto...Austin Trout!

Anyone else see a Cotto v Ishit Smith fight Cotto needs a trinket...
