He may not be cut like he used to be but how do you explain a 48 year old throwing more punches against stronger world champs than he was fighting nearly 8 years ago?

Like I said, look at James Toney!
    According to compubox:-

Hopkins v Trinidad 653 punches thrown in 2001
Hopkins v Winky 640 punches thrown in 2007
Hopkins v Calzaghe 468 punches thrown in 2008
Hopkins v Pavlik 540 punches thrown in 2008
    Hopkins v Dawson 2 punches thrown 400 in 2012
Hopkins v Cloud 417 punches thrown in 2013

    What was your point?

Well considering our testosterone levels start to diminish naturally in our early 30s (which is why if you look back at the greats of yesterday, they were all shit by the time they were 35-40 with few exceptions), if Bhop hasn't been using hormone replacement therapy or PED's, he needs to be brought to the Smithsonian and studied thoroughly.

I think it's more a case of Hopkins living a very clean life, starting late, and looking good against mediocre fighters. Hopkins looked his age against Calzaghe or Dawson, and Ward would butcher him, but against the lethargic also-rans at light heavy he can still look like a spring chick.

Hopkins vs Taylor, a fighter his own size at middleweight he threw 371. He throws less against fighters his own size but you cannot deny that from throwing 371 in 2005 when he was already 40 to throwing 400 against Dawson and 417 against Cloud 8 years later is not in he slightest suspicious?

I'm a little suspicious but I'm not going to be all butt hurt about my guy Cloud getting beat. Hopkins can be on something and still get beaten, look at Wlad vs Wach. Wach was on PEDs and lost every single round.

Taylor was an outstanding athlete, with quick hands, quick feet, and good lateral movement. Nobody throws a lot of punches against a guy like that. It's like asking why Pacquiao's punch output drops when he fights Marquez.
