I think you can make a case for either fighter. But.... Murray, knowing they were fighting in Argentina for heaven sakes... should've kept up the pressure in the last 2 rounds. He didn't, and he lost. Anyway, it was a tremendous showing by Murray.

You cant actually believe that my friend. Tell me how he lost the 12th? Tell me how he lost the fight. He gave up the first 2 rounds sure but this is another example of a Hbo poster boy robbing the man that beat him.

It's not so much a matter of him losing the 12th, as it was him not going out and winning it. Sounds like the same thing, but it's not. IamInuit, you can't lose sight of the fact that they were fighting in Argentina. Murray had the momentum... he just had to seize control and not give it up. (BTW, I agree that the second Martinez fall was a legitimate KD. The ref blew that call big time).

That actually gets to me after awhile cause it seems so situational. Murray beat Martinez better then Leonard beat Hagler.

TBH, I would've been just as satisfied had Murray gotten the decision. But IMO, corners need to better impress upon their fighters the importance of closing the show. Had Murray fought with the urgency he had displayed earlier in the fight, he would've left no doubt. Notice also that he was relatively subdued after the fight, although I realize he's a gentleman, and not one to cry about bad decisions.

Martinez won the fight, but barely.

Murray dropped him clean after Sergio was getn cocky with his hands down and not out of fighting distance.

He looked to have lost a step tonight, but he hasn't lost any of his championship heart. He eeked out the decision, but a year ago even he would have dominated Murray as he did Barker and Macklin, who by the way HBO were trying to give those fights to AGAINST Sergio. This was by no means some grand HBO conspiracy of bias for Sergio, they've tried to screw him in the past.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Closing the show went out with 15 rd fights and powdered wigs. He won the 12th, dominated the middle and late rounds, knocking him down once arguably twice. The fight was not all that close to me and the fact that this group of refs had it the other way by 3 makes me want to puke and its not because I'm some Murray homer.
