What doesn't make sense is how he always wanted Cotto to feel comfortable.

I find Mayweather one of the best boxers in the world to watch. If you could buy a boxing textbook in defensive masterclass then Mayweather would be on the cover. No he doesn't get into brawls every fight like Arturo Gatti but for me part of what makes boxing great is seeing great punches landed and some of Mayweathers counterpunching is nothing short of phenomenal. Some of the straight right hands he was landing last week against guerrero were absolutely beautiful.
We all love a good tear up but what makes this sport so great is the amount of skill and class that it takes to reach the very top and whatever you think of him as a man, as a boxer I don't think anyone can deny Mayweather is incredibly skillful and is a classy boxer. These kinds of skills don't come along every day, so we should enjoy Mayweather while he's here because he WILL be one those guys that comes up in future generations conversations about would the Welterweight champion of say 2029 have a chance of beating the greats such as Mayweather, Leonard, Hearns and amongst others Pacquiao?
Floyd might eventually lose before hanging them up for good. But it won't be against Canelo at 154, trying to call the shots, and coming into the ring at 175 pounds. When Canelo reaches the status that Floyd, Cotto, or any of these other veteran, future HOF'ers have.... he can dictate terms.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Cotto can get a lovely pay day with canelo but that boy sure does mark up easily.
Cotto is stuck at 154 now..what happens if cotto beats canelo?!
Anyone for mayweather vs cotto 2.?
Then the weight debate would really kick off.
The highest paid athlete in history.
I think he has the right to dictate the weight.
After the fog of war clears and the argument for argument sake takes a back seat to reality ahd physical fact it still comes down to a question asked to each fighter.
To Alvarez: Would you like a crack at the best fighter in the world and the biggest payday you will ever have by dropping down to welter?
Answer: No.
To Mayweather: Would you like to fight the 154 champion who will most likely be a light heavyweight the night of the fight in a division you would have no interest in staying in?
Answer: Huuuuuuuuh?
Questioner: Right then, thanks for the time.
The end.
Id say Canelo v Martinez is a more realistic prospect.

I think Alvarez will lose the weight and fight him. Or maybe they fight at 148 for the 154 belt. It's the perfect excuse for Alvarez if/when he loses. He can go back to 154 and continue his career.
