Where do they get their info

Calzaghe beat Hopkins better than really anyone has. Even had him crawling round looking for rest time and the way Ward tires and looks vulnerable in the last few rounds of his fights, even against Froch. With Joes workrate thats going to happen much sooner in the fight. Could Calzaghe be effective after a few years out and at the age he is now? Maybe his hands have healed?

Do I think it should happen? No!
Do I think it will? It's boxing one never quite knows.

Who would win? Prime Calzaghe take it hands down, he handled every spoiler he fought, David Starrie, Hopkins, Bika, Salem and he was faster than Ward is, plus you can't fight on the back foot against Calzaghe because he never tires and the retreating boxer always did tire.

Could he be effective now? No. His stamina will be shot plus he wasn't a huge puncher in his prime so he won't have the power now to stop it early.

His hands would be more brittle now than before.

Calzaghe has his legacy to lose, a very good legacy at that, while Ward isn't really even liked, plus I think ward will lose soon enough, I think Hopkins could cause him problems because he spoils just as much.

Good thread by the way.
I think Joe could still do something. He could still yet have his career defining fight, you never know. Over the years people have retired and come out after years and beaten top men, like Leonard over Hagler.

Joe looks to still be in good shape and says he is still in the gym. His style in his last few years was geared towards workrate. He was a puncher. Ask Eubank, or rather search what he said about Joes power. Joe hits hard enough to stop Hopkins from being effective. Something Pavlik, Pascal and Cloud couldnt do.

I would still love to see it as it would be very intriguing. Could Joe come back and still be the same, could he give Ward the trouble he gave Hopkins. I believe he could as he was never a stylistic boxer, he just out worked you and caught you alot. Even if he did lose, it wouldnt harm his legacy. Maybe his ego because of that undefeated record.

Ward would take it in a heartbeat. It would spring board him to mainstream recognition because lets be honest. Who knows who he is other than us that waste our lives in boxing forums?
