88 Mike Tyson vs Ike Ibeabuchi

Yeh, the action as well as the massive glare of new found exposure. Cokes must have felt like a part time baby sitter trying to keep him in line. From what I've read he was just always wound tightly. I remember them talking about how he couldn't adjust, culturally etc. also. Literally went from total obscurity to world known in one night. He really screwed himself.

He complained at the hospital right after the Tua fight that he had and odd ringing and feeling. Nobody really did anything. Why good ole Cedric would have thrown him in there with Tua to begin with at that stage is anyone's guess. The Ike that fought Tua would have been even up against Tyson and one is forced to be that specific because that fight was probably his prime. Make a great trivia question. "Best fighter with the shortest prime?"

I think id go with Ike, but really it would depend on what had happened to each guy the days prior to fighting on if they'd be there mentally for it.

By 88 this guy was the only one to go 10 rounds, and all he had going for him was a big set of balls and the toughest beard you can ever have. Well he got stopped right in the tenth but thats the most Tyson had done.




Its a hard call, would Ike have been giving back what he was getting is the big question,Id say yeah he would? If so Id go with him. Cause for Mike to last 10 when being hit back is different than lasting 10 giving all the punishment and Mike wasnt used to taking any for long.

He never got gift decisions or got dropped coming up like a lot of other "great" fighters because he was just too good.

Ibeabuchi was really raw...he was developing a good solid jab but it wasn't anything special. I think more polished boxers would have beaten him badly. Look at the Byrd fight before the KO

Both were good fighters and coming off good wins. You cant just dismiss them as bad fighters because of how they performed against Mike

The Green fight was good. A good learning fight for Mike. He had fast hands and good combinations and was tough.
