Cotto gets destroyed.. I guess you can say Cotto was in his prime at 147 but his best weight was 140.
It would be like Cotto-Torres but Mayorga would certainly finish his ass..
Cotto can't compete with a prime Mayorga..

Mayorga was an animal but he burnt out pretty fast.
You looka at the losses he had years ago and the money he was able to make regardless and he was also the undisputed welter champ and beat the pound for pound best fighter twice on the trot. He was seriously dangerous!
Even when he fucked arou d with half assed training and had to move up in weight to accomodate his lack of discipline he still managed to push and give hard fights to the likes of Trinidad, De La Hoya, Vargas, Mosely and Cotto. I believe Mosely was still cheating in the Mayorga fight and Mayorga certainly did better than Margarito who was seen as a cyborg at the time.
Back in the day, Mayorga ould throw every punch full power and still have an amazing work rate in the 12th. Mosely would not have kept out of the way of Mayorgas punches back then, he was not great defensively and its a shame he didnt get his shot against Shane because the result would have been the same as against Forest but Shane maybe would have still had more of a career afterwards, as he did when completely outboxed by Winky.
Also, if Mayorga was prime now, Pacquiao would never have moved up and Arum would not have let him anywhere near Mayorga. Only Floyd would be the favourite to beat him in todays division. Also, it may be bullshit but Mayorga has said when he was training in miami years ago that Angelo Dundee told him that he is the only fighter that could beat Mayweather.

I think Floyd would beat him but it certainly would be interesting. The rest get beat Berto, Guererro, Alexander and Broner. Mayorga's prime did not last that long.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

name one fighter at 147 who blasted out Cotto before the Plastergate incident, Forrest fought a dumb ass fight with Mayorga twice, and Spinks showed you don't have to have power to outbox Mayorga, and it's not like Spinks was Mayweather when it comes to defense, one thing that neither guy would do is work the body, something Miguel did plenty early on at 147 and obviously at 140, and don't see how Mayorga would put on a Torres like performance when even Ricardo Torres had more boxing ability than Mayorga in terms of being able to throw a straight punch
Ricardo Mayorga was durable, but he was way too inconsistent to ever be dubbed as a sure thing, Lewis IMO was worse than the bunch we have at WW today, so I'm pretty confident in saying that any of the following would have handled him
Mayweather, Cotto, Pacquiao, Mosley, Trinidad, DLH, Vargas (at 154 pre DLH), etc.
as for most of today's ww, then yea Mayorga would have a shot against most of them besides Floyd probably

Zab judah. Cotto was on his way out after eating a vicious uppercut until he saved himself by punishing zab's nuts. He cheated to buy time and it worked but if it wasnt for that, cotto would have got blasted out.
And lets get this cleared about spinks. He did not outbox mayorga and he sure as hell didnt win thatk fight. The referee beat mayorga as he deducted points unfairly. Leading up to the bout, mayorga had made many tasteless comments which turned him into a villain and it was obvious everyone was against him. The ref did not treat him fairly plain and simple . Theres a difference between running and outboxing and what spinks did was straight up running and holding on for dear life like a bitch.
Performance like that should never earn somebody an undisputed title.
