    1. Yes I agree 100 percent they should have fought three times, which is why I made this thread.

    2. Trinidad was one of the many boxers who believed that Oscar did not deserve his popularity, there were other great boxers at the time that werent getting a quarter of what he was getting, he got into an ego battle with Oscar, in their first fight he didn't have enough leverage to demand a 50-50 split despite being the champ for 6 years, so after his victory he used that as leverage.

    3. Trinidad received 10 million for the fight and Oscar 20, Due to ego Tito wanted a swap in the rematch and Oscar's camp denied it, how you came up with 5 million is beyond me, and there is no evidence saying that Oscars camp ever offered anything close to a split.

    4. Trinidad never wanted that fight to be on the Island, any fight in PR is a novelty fight, a fight put on for the local fans in appreciation for their support and its not about the revenue, if Tito wanted home turf advantage in a mega fight it would have been at MSG.

OK VD, you asked for it

    1. It never stated that Trinidad offered Oscar 5 million for a rematch, it said that in the fight Oscar received 21 million and Tito received 8.5, Tito wanted the purses to swap for a rematch, this is exactly what I said in my opening post of the thread because I rememer Tito and Oscar meeting in the ring during the Larry Merchant interview and Tito saying it.

    2. This columnist stating what the purse was between the two is unofficial, over the years I have seen different ranges of what the two were paid, the most common is 20/10 but only the two camps know the real answer.

    3. This column was so low budget it even threw you off, he never offered 5, he was swapping the 8.5 from the original fight, the article was so low budget that it cut the 8. from the 5 and you were confused.

    4. I like the way he said Papa Trinidad did not have a one fight plan but he had a five fight plan ( oh yeah it would have been 6 ), who says that nonsense.

    5. This guy also says that fighting Reid made no sense, no sense to who ?? The rematch with Oscar fell through so who the hell was he suppose to fight.

    6. But the best part of this horrible article was when the columnist quoted Papa Trinidad with " Trinidad can fight all the way up to 200 pounds ", lmfao, is 200 pounds a weight class ? Horrible link.
