An atheist dictator killing Catholics isn't any different than Catholics killing Protestants, Sunnis killing Shiites, Hindus killing Sihks, yada yada. Stalin and Mao were awful people with an unprecedented capacity to kill, but they may not have been atheists without the writings of Karl Marx, who never killed anyone to my knowledge. Their personal beliefs had very little to do with what horrors they inflicted imo, there WERE no atheists not all that long ago, history is still rife with monsters.

P4p, check into these things you say and you will be surprised how many of these are driven actually by land rather than beliefs. The majority of Middle Eastern issues are the cause of Churchill and Lawrence making countries borders arbitrarily. The Brits screwed all that up after the fall of the Ottoman empire. The Brits have a knack of screwing things up. The US is also guilty but England, back in the day, did a number on the Middle East. The Shiite and Sunni issues are prime examples of this. When arbitrarily making maps on the Middle East, the Brits took none of that into consideration.
