Hey P4p, no they do not. You are missing a lot of theology here for which I don't blame you as it appears you are not interested in looking into it. That is fine. But since you have no interest in finding out more about it it remains difficult to conversations on the issue. The answer to your last question was answered well over a thousand years ago. Let me once again say I have no ill will towards any faiths or lack of faith. I don't like to attack anyone's faith but it seems Christianity is on the attack here. I am not condemning you guys for doing so but if you you want to maintain a discussion only by the info you have in your head it is rather difficult to do so. Believe me, I dismissed God for many years and was a proud atheist. Who interpreted the Bible for you ? Did you come to those conclusions on yourself or were you swayed by the words of men ? You say there is only one true God and then you claim that Jesus is the saviour? Have you forgotten the second commandment " You shall have no other gods before me" That specifically precludes compartmentalization, partners or intermediaries. So no God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost or did God get it wrong ? Are you just picking and choosing what parts to believe in order to judge your fellow man?

You are making a God out of yourself as soon as your utter the words "There is only one true God". You have set yourself up for conflict and Holy war. Jews were monolatrists ( and many scholars believe possibly polytheists ) not monotheists. They worshipped their own one God but never denied the existence of others. They worshipped him not because of his unique position as creator of the Universe but because he got them out of Egypt and made a covenant with them. He was a jealous God, and they owed him big time.

Your God is not the God of the Jews, your God is Jesus, through whom you believe everyone has the chance to get saved. Saved from what ? Sin. Sin earned by exercising the God given right to free will. What kind of parent gives their child a choice and then punishes them for making a choice. If Adam and Eve were perfect why would they make such a choice ? Surely only God can be perfect because everything out of a mold is merely a facsimile, an imperfect copy? Or were Adam and Eve Gods?

How many people have been killed by Religious people claiming that there is only one true God? Far too many for there justification to mean anything but a boastful pride and arrogance, that a loving God, if he really existed, would be ashamed to have associated with him. If you are so sure that your God is the same God that the Jews worshipped then be mindful that after giving the commandment not to murder he sent people in to slaughter those who worshipped a calf made by the man who he then anointed as high Priest. The Bible is an ancient book written by primitive people. To claim that it is the word of God and the only way of looking at the world is delusion and deception. The Bible is no more holy than any other religious tome and the thing all have in common is an astounding amount of gibberish and a tremendous level of reverence and tolerance of people who are clearly going through episodes of what can only be described as mania.

Today we can see ancient texts as reflecting attitudes of the time and place and that is all that The Bible should be used for. If we were to rely on ancient texts completely then science would not have progressed and we would have wannabe Columbus like explorers going to the moon trying to convince us all that he saw people with dog like faces just like the ancient Greeks told us. We would have to believe him as it is all there in ancient texts.

Everything about modern society puts the ancient books in their rightful place and yet The Bible is this abberation that refuses to go anywhere. You go to a hotel in London and they have The Bible in a drawer, you go to school and they have the morning prayer, you look at Israel and a country that could have been put in Texas, and yet is there and causing problems and all because of a book that is out of time.

The Bible will hold its place as long as people remain ignorant and deluded. Religion should be stamped out of all education. The reason it doesn't go away is because of parenting. Children are indocrinated and unfortunately there are a lot of parents that don't want their children growing up with open minds.

Violence throughout history has largely been carried out by lunatic religious people. The Jews experienced it throughout century after century, the Christians and the Muslims have been going at century after century too, the entire Americas was wiped out in a wave of superiority in the name of being wedded to The God. Hitler himself was a Catholic and just took centuries of history to new levels of planned wickedness.

Society has moved on a long way since The Bible. Less people follow it and more are turning to atheism and a practical way of living. However, The Bible is continuing to be used as a means of wielding power and control, when in reality and with the application of a little logic, it is a wonder that it is still where it is.

They offer little in the way of progression for people to help themselves.
