Mercer had a decent stride in 96. This was a great contrast fight in Moorers fast hands and vulnerability while Mercer let punches bounce off his big lunchbox head with steady pressure. Moorer was looking spotty late 96 and being stunned by Botha and Shultz, I think Mercers jab has always been a bit underrated and he could actually out jab Moorer which would be a surprise. That's the thing: The Mercer that fought Holmes wasn't lazy or lethargic, he just got beat by someone with way more experience. lololol......

He couldn't bomb Holmes the way Tyson and Shavers did. He couldn't, and never did have, the type of work rate that Holyfield did- he just simply got beat due to his style.
