I said A LOT of old boxers were punching bags. Louis was not exactly evasive. Mormeck is definitely better than Joe Louis.
There is no comparison between Mormeck and Louis. Mormeck is much bigger, much leaner fitter stronger and has a higher skill level than Louis.
Just look at them!
Mormeck is a 6 time world champion at cruiser which back then was HW! I have no problem defending Mormeck there.
Sure, Walcott was no punch bag but please, name 1, just one, opponent he could beat today for me to laugh at lol?
Anyway on Wlad's non-clinch fights, why not watch the Thompson x2 (a top opponent) and Wach (an unbeaten opponent who out-weighed+out-talled) affairs again and see how much holding there is by comparison. And then maybe the Chagaev fight (another top opponent) where he manages to keep a short opponent who tried to box properly at bay. I think the holding is as much his opponents fault as it is Wlad's.
Who cares if Vitali was better. I am insisting both ways. Were Vitali not there, Wlad would have been undisputed, if Wlad was not there, Vitali would have been.
I think Vitali was better initially but I think since atleast 08/09 Wlad was better. I think that Vitali's reign in the absence of Wlad would be broken by David Haye.
Vitali was better overall but I think Haye would have beaten the less mobile Vitali in 2010.

Huck vs Povetkin..
Huck was a CHAMPION CW (which back in the old days was HW remember) who stepped up to HW. When he met Povetkin he WAS a HW, there's a difference between that and an ACTUAL sub200 CW.
The only guy we can give credit for beating a HW as an actual CW in recent times is Roy Jones vs John Ruiz, one of the best CW champs of all time vs one of the worst HW champs of recent times.

I'll humor you, tell me how Mormeck is better than Louis.
6 time world champ? He tried to unify with O Neil Bell but got knocked out. How is he a 6 time champ?
Who cares if Vitali was better? Everyone who laughs when Wlads reign as the best Heavyweight for years is mentioned.....
You think Haye would have beaten Vitali? Why do you think Haye wanted Wlad so much? It was all down to the Sanders fight. So many times Haye mentioned that he would do the same with his speed. He forgot you still need balls to get inside and do it. He would have watched Vitali V Lewis and thought "fuck that!"
Jones was never a cruiser before he fought Ruiz?Plus, how much credit do you give someone who was found using illegal substances?
I will answer to just one moot point here... I don't think Haye could get Vitali early on, no way!!! But in 2010, when he fought Wlad, I think he would have because Vitali was not as mobile as he was earlier times. Wlad was definitely the better opponent for Haye at that time. Look at the difficulty Vitali had dominating Chisora, Haye smashed the shit out of him.

Haye caught Chisora because Chisora is shorter and was in his face. Haye had no choice but to fight back.
Against Vitali, Haye would have looked worse than he did against Wlad. He would have been put under pressure and would have to run a lot more.
Hayes whole reason for going to heavy was what he saw in the Sanders fight and then subsequent knockdowns against Peter, Brewster, Williamson etc. he thought he'd crack that chin easy but to do that you have to have the stomach to push the fight yourself, which he proved, he didn't have.

@Master Come on mate, you will not find a sober sports analyst alive that would claim Louis was fitter than Mormeck and you know it. You can google Mormeck training and you can see that he used some of the most advanced and brutal methods available for the Klitschko fight. Look at it! Meanwhile Louis can barely time a speedball!!! You can look up that as well!!
Face it man, times change. You really think that boxing is a timeless sport!!??
I can't think of any pro Louis could beat today really!

Joe Louis was a fighting machine who was lean and mean. He destroyed opponents, he was vicious and efficient fighter. How you can say he was not fit is beyond belief. Just because it is in black and white does not mean they were poor fighters.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
