Nice find, I'd still go with Gayweather even though we know he is juiced but great vid you dug up.
Pep, Pep, and Pep

Dont know whos best, different eras different rules.
Interesting what you can do when you are relaxed and free thinking though.
Peps is like a dance flowing with the opponent then turning it around leading them into trouble.
Think Floyd is a touch more technical and practiced, less reactive, less loose with it,more systematic.
Pep isn't in Mayweather's league to be honest. Pep was a quick runner with great reflexes who could control range, but he had a lot of trouble protecting himself on the inside. Saddler got him against the ropes and brutalized him. Floyd has the runner/range controller dimension, but he also had the ability to fight in the pocket and protect himself on the inside and under pressure.
In a nutshell, Pep excelled when he could control where the fight took place, Floyd excels wherever the fight takes place.
To be honest, in terms of defensive ability I don't think Pep is in the same league as Mayweather, Whitaker or Locche. Three guys who could slip punches from any distance, from any angle, and who were never knocked out
David Lemieux = Future MW Champ and P4P King
Willie Pep was great, but not in the same discussion with guys who were wizards on the outside AND the inside.

I would love to see Pep defending his title in a big ring and Mayweather chasing him all around. That would school mayweather in why fans hate bicycling in the ring

MAX POWERISM IN ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, I will expand for those who are not familiar with FAMOUS Max Powerism 101:
1. Bigger is better
2. Newer is bigger
3. Newer is better
Mayweather is 1) newer 2) bigger => 3) he is better!!!!!111111111111111
Objectively though, lightweight Mayweather should have won over Pep

LOL Yes but you must augment those with the term "IN GENERAL" after those points.
Smaller fighters DO beat bigger ones, just statistically much less.
Newer fighters from respective weight categories are bigger because of modern stripping and rehydrating, changing definitions of classes and increasing size of HW's
Newer is better in general the further removed but SOME past time fighters may hold their own across a significant span.
My analysis here was in fact based quickly and resolutely on nothing more than simply watching them fight.
Mayweather is hands down the most defensive fighter of all time (or was). Beyond dispute really. And if there's any fighter I can't stand more than Ali, it's Mayweather!

SugarRay Leonard was a better defensive fighter than Mayweather. FACT.
Willie Pep is far better than Mayweather in this aspect.
