Agrreed. JT was already having issues making MW by 92, even though he won it in 91. quietly taking on the names of Reggie Johnson, MiKe McCallum & Michael Nunn oh & Merqui Sosa- check this out...JT did this in one 1/2 years!!!The belt he relinquished is what Hop & RJJ fought for (vacant). JT in 2 fights took on Doug Dewitt & Iran Barkley-truley a throwback fighter (a word not overused or incorrectly used! LOL!
& Julian Jackson @ the time was having medical issues -his eye I think & he was really a Jr. Middle who ran into Gman who weighed as much as a SMW when he fought Jackson. There was some good matchups back then- they just didnt have the PPV hyped- they did their work on the undercards and 1/2 empty arenas.
When Jackson fought McCellan in their 1st match- it was billed as BOMBS AWAY.
Great friggin throwdown!!!! What was sad about it- look at the arena- they fought their butts off in a 1/2 empty arena.
I remember watching Yori Boy Campus v Roger Turner on an under card in the heat and near empty stadium fight a brilliant contest.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Put that on my to check out list: Campas-Turner.
It was not about the money back then, but having it was good. lolol... they had a point to prove. I think that is missing from this era's fighters- only a few of them do it because they actually like it. Money, while important, does not a fight make.
The only guy out there fighting the best of the best without the money being a priority is GGG- he would take anyone from 154 to 168. We know it. We all know it.
With Ward back now, hopefully for good, we would have another guy that would take on any and everyone from a certain band- 160 to 175. We know deep down that Ward would take a fight... we know it. Don't front.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

Your comment reminds me of the end of Hopkins Echols I.
Antwon nails Hop less than a minute left, yet Hop doesn't clinch he fights it out & as soon as the bout ends: Hop goes to the only section where there were fans, like he was seeking their approval.
Did I impress? To which all of the 45-75 people gave their approval.
