Thread: Cotto-Alvarez weight set at 155; likely date Nov. 7 or Nov. 21

    Oh I know I'm the 160lb champ, but I'd rather defend my belt at 155lbs.

    Oh! And I can't be bothered to fight 12 rounds, so how about we make it a 9 round fight.

    Didn't Ray Leonard practically invent the 168 division by fighting the light heavyweight champion at that limit?

    Considering he wasn't the champion, that's a bit worse isn't it?

    Yeah and he also demanded a championship match be 12 rounds instead of 15.

    That's why I always feel boxing could still have a home inside a circus tent because it's more of an event than a fixture. It's a money making scheme masquerading as a sport. So when the main ticket seller has more clout than the promoter and even the bit of plastic he's fighting for, then he gets to call some shots.
