The Reason.com video showed his double standards a lot better.

His guests were to expect what? A comedian asking questions or a journalist digging deep for information? With Obama he's a comedian, with a Republican he's a journalist, with RFK Jr. he's being serious and taking everything said as fact...if RFK Jr was a Republican/Conservative/Libertarian Stewart would have lampooned him and that is a FACT.

Jon Stewart was a hitman for liberals

Ayaan Hirsi Ali hammered the shit out of the faux journalist
So anybody asking politically related questions of a guest on their show is a journalist? That would have been news to Johnny Carson, Dick Cavett and so on.

You're aware the Daily Show has described itself as a fake news programme since before Stewart was even running it, right? John Stewart has for years described himself as the most trusted name in fake news?

Show me a transcript of a quote where he claims to be a journalist.

Johnny Carson never tipped his hand, he'd make fun of anyone and everyone, but he never put his personal politics out there and lead with that.

Dick Cavett is an unabashed lefty, I don't mind the guy but he wasn't NEWS.

Jon Stewart says "fake news" but and I'm sorry to have to correct you Kirkland as I know you have such a delicate constitution about being corrected but millennials get their news from these "fake news" shows

...."fake" to Stewart, but "real" to the millennials hence my issues with The Daily Show and Jon Stewart.

But dear heart I sure hope you don't get too upset by my correcting you

You're not correcting me. People getting their news from comedy shows doesn't mean that the comedians doing the shows are journalists, it's more a commentary on the terrible job actual news programmes do.

Political comedy and satire is not journalism Lyle. Taking the mickey out of journalists* every day does not make you a journalist.

*People who work at Fox News anyway.

Journalist - a person who writes for newspapers or magazines or prepares news to be broadcast on radio or television.

    plus

Jon Stewart's Daily Show being considered a "good source" of news by millennials

    equals

    Jon Stewart ....journalist.

But what do you want to call him? Is he JUST a comedian? Is he a "humorist"? A "social commentator"? A "political pundit"?

I don't think he's JUST a comedian, but whatever I'm sure you'll think you're right whatever you decide

Since when do 'millennials' dictate what constitutes ANYTHING in this country? Is the most successful drug dealing kingpin of oxycontin on college campuses also a pharmacist? Christ Almighty you're an idiot

To know the environment and tendencies of a talk show host they are walking into. Stewart, or any other host, has no obligation to shut down what has taken them to the top when an author comes on to hawk a book. I don't see how some grizzled hard nose from Washington has anything to fear from Stewart. The age of 'hard hitting' journalism is not what it was as nearly every joe blow with an I phone is now the go to for first hand accounts and footage.

While "the most successful drug dealing kingpin of oxycontin on college campuses" doesn't HAVE to be a pharmacist, it doesn't mean that it COULDN'T be a pharmacist.

If you don't understand that Millennials and their disposable income can drive a market then you're the idiot. I'm just saying these kids, "Millennials" grew up with CNN, they grew up with the internet, they grew up in an era where the lines between opinion and fact are skewed, and in this day and age YES Jon Stewart is considered host of a "news" show, however heavy on the finger quotes you want to go....pollsters have asked, Millennials have answered, and the answer is although Millennials get news from various sources Jon Stewart's The Daily Show IS one of those sources and that is undeniable.

The New York Times AND The Atlantic compared Jon Stewart to Edward R. Murrow!

It's true: Jon Stewart has become Edward R. Murrow (updated) - The Atlantic

I Really Like Jon Stewart, but Here's What Bothers me About him

best bit from the last link: "But it worries me that young people in particular (the show's audience skews fairly young) will use "The Daily Show" as a substitute for real news. That would be a tragedy, because it's been my experience that most young people are woefully ignorant of current events (various polls have confirmed this.) One example: I recently asked a class of about 15 students why the U.S. invaded Afghanistan. No one knew."
