Less willing maybe..chin a euphemism for many things. Chris byrd debuted middle? and brought a BB gun to shoot outs but he stepped in and fought monsters. Monsters today fight like its a tickling contest.
Heavyweights used to be around 220lb max now they are regularly 30lb heavier and landing with more weight. That is the simple truth.
And when boxers have the free reign to gain 20lb of muscle in 2 years with no suspicion from the media they will just get heavier.
Imagine if a top 100 meter sprinter had gained 20lb of muscle in 2 years, everyone would be questioning it.
No, I wouldn't say they are 'more chinny'.
I think Fury has a decent chin, and Wilder is also undefeated.
Joe Louis got knocked down a few times, as did Floyd Patterson, Max Bear, Primo Carnera. Wlad got sparked a few times, assuming you now don't count him as 'today's HW champ'![]()
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
The reason for my OP question is that it seems today... one punch and it's over. Fighters fight like it, too. They seem too aware that one good punch could end it. Maybe it's the bigger size nowadays.... maybe there's something else, too. I just remember the war between Mike Tyson and Douglas.... the wars between Tyson and Holyfield.... the ones between Holyfield and Bowe.... Lennox and Vitali. Those were some powerful heavyweights, capable of ending fights with one punch. Yet they went toe-to-toe in some exciting, breathtaking exchanges. You see none of that nowadays. Since the Wlad reign began, we've seen absolutely NONE of that.
