In fairness Martin made no sense at all receiving a title shot. Has to be one of the top ugliest inconclusive wins in heavyweight title history.

In answer to the original question, I've seen a lot less deserving challengers. Why Wilder wanted him as a voluntary , I'm not sure. Yes, he has a decent ex pat following there, but if that's the best moneymaker he can get in between mandatories , then he needs to get over to the UK Fast. He'd make more money taking on someone over here.
I'd be really curious to see if the likes of Haye and Joshua or even Joe Parker would risk fighting Szpilka . I thought he did really well till he got KTFO.
Wilder doesnt deserve to be champion
Man i think Wilder was losing that right to him before that sweet ko he landed. I think he better learn to box or drop that shit and go ham and either kill or be killed i think thats the best way. I mean he was in the Olympics and has 36 fights maybe thats as good as he is getting.
the pole did very good. i had him winning till the ko happened. i never heard of him, so i was annoyed with that. but turned out he was pretty damn good! and he gave it his all, which is more than many others have done in fights like this! props to spzilka!! props to wilder on the comeback ko. it was a hard shot!!
LESSON LEARNED: dont be so quick to insult/down foreign fighters just because u havent heard of them before. the world is a big place!!
Will say this and agree with the above the guy was fight the fight of his life till he got his soul crushed. It was refreshing to see the big guys go at it and have the underdog that was a filler put Wilder in trouble for most of the fight but man Wilder power is something else they guy looked dead.
