Without Scott or Johnson turning your ears to liquid, there is no AC/DC. Definitely not with Rose.

They weren't the same without Malcom Young and Phil Rudd. They weren't the same even when Rudd took the nineties off. They're definitely not going to be the same without Brian Johnson.
Having said that. Brian's voice has deteriorated really badly. Decades of ciggies will do that. He's getting winded during songs, can't finish lyrics and at some gigs there were minutes long delays between songs while he was offstage probably getting oxygen. He was warned about his hearing by doctors and it was the perfect excuse for Angus to get shot. Very harsh and all that but the show goes on. Brian did OK considering before he got the audition he was fitting sunroofs into cars (remember the sunroof craze?) in a backstreet garage in Newcastle and singing in working mens' clubs occasionally.
I posted a couple of songs from his last few performances a while ago. He's not up to it anymore. Angus will want to go on until he physically can't do it anymore. They'll use Axl to get them through their Europe/rescheduled dates then for future tours/albums either stick with Axl if it works or maybe go for a new singer. They auditioned a couple of guys from tribute bands before they went with Axl.
But Axl can pull off the AC/DC catalogue broken foot notwithstanding. Gunds and Roses played Coachella at the weekend and Angus turned up to do Whole Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff.
Am off to Lisbon anyway to watch them and meet a guy I haven't seen since we worked in Athens in the late eighties. Knew he was from Lisbon and god bless the internet tracked him down. Going to get in trouble probably.![]()
Rock stars are not infallible, I don't quite get why anyone goes to see these nostalgia acts in the first place myself, are any of these guys really still good? If it were different people playing the same way today, nobody would have any problem calling it shit, in my honest opinion. Different strokes though.
I thought AC/DC was pretty damn good when they played here in '09, IMO.
As far as people calling any kind of music shit, yeah I've already visited that topic with a certain forum member before. Music lovers tend to have this strange sense of entitlement over what's good and what's shit. One man's trash, sort to speak....
It's not the kind of music I'm calling shit, Im just talking about how it sounds today being played by the same guys. Imo, rock and roll bands more than others, tend to get a pass when they lose their faculties, that was my only point.
No, you're right. In that regard they're like athletes who hang on too long. You lose your voice, or your playing ability... you should hang it up, lest you start embarrassing yourself. Like athletes, however, there are some who defy Father Time for awhile and can still bring it. Tough to know where that line is.
Never got into ACDC or GNR for that matter but I'd listen to them if they were on the radio. The only music I say is shit is some rap that says nigger thirty seven times in a row. I hear them play it at work every night. Its incredible . why, why say it so often. Some rap is very good. Excellent wordsmiths.
I think Rose doing ACDC might be interesting. I'm interested to hear it.
