Says something about TR how many fighters are willing to just not fight until their contracts run out. Mikey isn't the first and won't be the last. I mean Manny was taking loans of his own money and then paying TR interest FFS.

To be fair Manny was taking advances on future purses because he was broke. Arum guided Mikey to a world title and million dollar paydays. I don't think Top Rank would have done an appreciably worse job of managing his career or paying him than any other promoter would have. And with the amount of time out of the ring and lost momentum there's no way Mikey will have done better at the end of his career than if he'd just completed his contract and then gone elsewhere.

I really think it's some kind of mental thing with Mikey. I don't think he was being underpaid or treated unfairly by Arum. I just think there's some kind of mental flaw which will show up again somehow eventually. Sitting out that amount of time is nuts. No manager or lawyer would recommend it.

It'll be interesting to see how Mikey does compared to Valdez Junior if that guy stays at TR and they're both successful in the future.

Manny was taking loans on future earnings instead of rightfully being paid his back end. There's a reason Manny was so concerned with his guarantees, it was all he would get.

I agree taking time off in your prime is a terrible idea but we really don't know what Garcia was taking home. Those million dollar pay checks could have been only hundreds of thousands after a litany of BS expenses are deducted.

What is rightful? Manny got everything he was supposed to get otherwise we'd have heard about it. This is a guy who literally gives his money away. No matter how much he gets paid he's going to spend it faster than he can make it.

I haven't seen any evidence that Garcia was being cheated or treated badly or whatever. If I remember correctly he threatened to bring a lawsuit against TR and then didn't (or lost one of the initial motions) and then just spat his dummy out and sat on his arse for two years. If TR had been screwing him we'd have seen paperwork to prove it.

What is rightful is what he earned. I agree it didn't matter how much he had he would give it away but what is earned is earned. It's well known Manny never got his back end. So instead of spending his back end he was taking loans and then paying interest on those loans. That's criminal, just, that's how boxing is. Rich smart men ripping off stupid men. We can say a fool and his money..... But give the fool HIS money.

Garcia stopped fighting and threatened to sue but you haven't seen any evidence? What exactly would be evidence then? Going to win in court, in Nevada? Haha

I didn't know it was well known. I'm sure if Manny wasn't paid money he was contractually bound to receive we would have heard about it.

America has either the top or second best legal system in the world. People and businesses from all over the world go to the US or UK to file cases as they know they're going to get justice there. An American court is an American court. Evidence is evidence. If for some reason one state in America did have a corrupt court system or you didn't like a decision then any plaintiff can appeal to Federal courts.

Staying out for two and a half years is just bad all around. They were talking Crawford even then but all that's happened is Crawford has assumed the momentum and Arums favor. At least they're equal here, comeback vs a guy in Rojas off 2 yrs away and totally off weight class also
