If he takes the win as his 50th career professional boxing victory, he's legitimizing it. And his followers will be right behind him.
Oh wait hahaha was it aimed at me for my "someone has told him he can get the 50 by fighting someone who has never had a professional bout" comment?

If so, I hate to say it but I wasn't the one who told him that, unfortunately it looks like someone else is writing his name in the history books and not me, do I agree with it? nope, will me disagreeing with it change it? Nope, regardless of how farcical the fight is will the 50-0 record stand? Yep

I'd much rather see him in a proper fight but it is what it is, someone somewhere has decided this is worthy of another notch on his bedpost and there ain't much that anyone can do other than go with the flow.

    Not aimed at you, relax.

As for the 50-0, maybe they can invoke the asterisk thingy. Like when Barry Bonds broke all sorts of homerun records (baseball) with the help of steroids and whatnot. The asterisk is the establishment's way of cheapening the feat.

Isn't the 50-0 thing about retiring an undefeated reigning champion? Floyd will not be a champion. He will be a guy coming off a circus fight. And no matter how much people wish it will tarnish his legacy, it won't. What he has done is done. Just as if anyone would suggest it will enhance his legacy is wrong too. This fight means nothing but money. Unless he loses.

Then let him get his money and be done with it. He'll get his millions... his fans will see him one more time... and everybody will be happy. But don't make a mockery of the sport and everyone else in it, by adding a tainted victory to your record. It's not a professional boxing match because one of the opponents is not a professional boxer.

If we're going to go that route, then let's legitimize RJJ's travesty win over Vyron Phillips. Oh wait... that was counted as a "W" also.
    Never mind.

F*ck it. Bring out the cotton candy, jugglers, and rubber red noses..... and let's join the circus.

Ha, exactly, for as much we all despise this fight it is the biggest fight of the year, it'll eclipse GGG and ginger pubes, it'll break fucking records and as much as the boxing fans and the UFC fans despise the very essence of the fight and try to put it down it will happen, we can't do fuck all about it

boxing fans and UFC fans don't come into the mix here mate, it's being sold to the casual fan and unfortunately there is a lot more casual fans who are sold on big adverts and flashy slogans than there are real boxing and UFC fans and that is the market they are aiming for.

I'm sure the UFC forums hold exactly the same view as us.

Should we goback and erase all Sugar Ray Robinsons wins over guys making their debute or were winless? Because there are a lot of them. And some when he had over 100 fights. It doesn't change the great things SRR did, it just doesn't add to them. Embrace the circus like you said. In the end it is completely meaningless. Floyd is still retired, he's just collecting pension. Just don't give him your money, I won't because he's a POS

Debuts and winless records be damned..... they are professional boxers. McGregor isn't.

You damn right the fight's meaningless. Like I said, Floyd and McGregor can meet in a boxing ring, a dark alley, chess match..... or oil themselves up and wrestle in an inflatable pool. Just don't insult other professional boxers out there by counting it as a win in your professional boxing record.

For the record, I hope Floyd dispatches him inside of 2 rounds. It'll frustrate the shit out of UFC fans who like to dis boxing. It's a spectacle, so let the guys get paid. None of that is the issue. My only issue is the "W". It's artificial and doesn't belong there.

garbage fight is garbage, I don't care that it's a "spectacle" or whatever, it's a money grab and they won't be getting any from me. This garbage of a fight overshadows and gets ten times the attention ward kov 2, ggg- canelo, or cormier- jones 2 in the mma world get because the 2 are loudmouths and for some reason people care about that nonsense....its bullshit.
