Yes, I was judging the more nefarious elements found within council estates. You all know they exist. In America it is the ghetto, in the UK it is found in the council estate. I am not even sure why there is such a problem with me not wanting to be around the work shy, drug addicts or teenage mothers. I have never at any stage said that all people on housing estates are scum, or that they are all unemployed, or that they are all destined for failure or anything like that. Those were images conjured up by others. I merely stated that I don't like being around the bad people and I think most people would agree with that sentiment. Who threatens to stab a dog after trespassing through a garden and being barked at? Who likes drug dealers? Who wants a society that rewards teenage mothers yet makes it hard for sensible people don't have children straight away? Who wants hoodlums with nothing to do harrassing the public? Dia, I don't think it is that I am forgetting my roots. I think part of the trouble is I remember those days too well and it has always left a bad impression on me. I remember the roots too well. I think the good people on a council estate despair of having a football hit their car despite the no ball games signs and a park just down the road, of the neighbor who plays noisy techno and smokes weed when they could just buy a pair of headphones, of the thug who gets young girls pregnant, all of that. It's beyond callous, and the worry of what is a tiny percentage of shysters ripping off the system has seen scores of genuinely disabled people fucked over. Not only throwing out the baby with the bath water but paying medically untrained American companies to overturn doctors decisions and actually cost the tax payer more in overturned appeal decisions, than the money they could have saved if they simply helped more disabled to work.


I am not going to go into great detail but you have said this for years because you seem to have no genuine understanding of what it's like to be disabled or how dearly most disabled people would love to work.


I feel passionately about this because ATOS an American company, declared me unfit to work and I lost my job in the civil service and then the same American company 6 weeks later ruled that I was fit to work and should receive no help.I found work myself by retraining to be a student support worker and funding the qualifications myself. Technically according to most criteria ( my GP and several consultants) I would be considered disabled, but not according to the company the government use to asses. I don't claim disability and never have.

I am not alone there are many much worse off than me and sweeping generalizations like you used above do not help things.

I have known people who have claimed disability for years and there has been nothing seriously wrong or anything stopping them getting a job. A lot of people don't want to work Beanz and given the choice many wouldn't. I don't think it is offensive to say that. I think many able bodied people given the choice of working or not working would probably prefer not to be working too. You have people with anxiety disorders saying that they cannot work, but are they even getting the CBT they need, have they considered giving up alcohol, have they even looked for a job not dealing with the general public? I have an anxiety disorder, but I get out there and work in front of lots of people. Not sure why this particular woman would be getting a free pass to do nothing, while others have to earn money then pay their taxes towards her lifestyle choices.

It isn't just about giving to people no questions asked. Obviously more serious conditions like having brain damage, or missing limbs complicates issues and I am far more understanding. In terms of what is going on with the buildings around the UK. Well, it is quite shocking. What kind of country do you have going on there? No money but 1.5 billion to buy a handful of DUP votes? There should be an immediate election to get this sorted once and for all. The public should be in outrage and protesting about the buying of DUP votes while people around the country are put in danger and told 'There is no money tree'. The Tories are done.

Could it be perhaps because I am disabled or the fact that I am a carer for someone who is disabled and yet still work, or maybe it has something to do with working with disabled students to help them get a job. In the us the ssi disability is abused to the point many who are on it make a joke about. Billions a year are wasted on it. Doctors have been busted for rubber stamp approval and bribes. Having said that I've worked in the mental health field for years. I've brought dozens of disabled for ssdi (that's what it's called here) and I was happy they got approved.
