Well that's not good.
Tom Petty is one of those that I should have invested a bit more time into trying to get to like his music but for some reason I've never been able get into him.
I think he came about in the late 70s which was when music was in decline for me then, so I reckon I just have a natural aversion to most things from that era.
I say that as if I was around then, I wasn't born till 85

Funnily enough someone had to break it to me that I was actually 32 years old, I've been walking round thinking I was 31 for god knows how long.Damn, for some reason i thought you older than me. Oh well.

Just made the drive home and they were playing song after song uninterrupted. Thought they were just doing blocks and thought to myself 'about time they play lots of Petty'. Then I log on and see this. Honestly and undeniably one of the greatest who ever poured his heart into a microphone.

Great road trip music. For many a Brit I think he conjured up the aural equivalent of a big open sky ( seemed to be a recurring theme with him too -Learning to fly, The Great Wide Open, Free fallin etc) and would be there with Cash and Ironically with Roy Orbison and Dylan on the car stereo for the archetypal American road trip.
