It seems like the most logical next fight for both, in regards to the division (unifies all the belts). GGG will stand their like Oliver with his hand out asking Canelo/ Oscar, "Please sir, may I have some more?" I can see them being petty and pissed at GGG for his harsh words towards Canelo and his failed test, and making him wait another year or so, if ever. They don't really need GGG.

I can see it playing out exactly like you said... GGG inexplicably seeking Canelo, and Team Ginger being petty and marinating the rematch even more. But that last sentence blew a fuse on the computer. I would say that "in their own minds" they don't need GGG. For the rest of us who view Canelo as a carefully manufactured matinee idol/ pretty boy/ expert ducker and manipulator, Canelo absolutely needs GGG. It would be a way to sort of clean his slate of all the B.S. that has cluttered his career up to this point. Picking and choosing his way through woefully undersized or over-the-hill names on his way to the top...... initially ducking GGG while coining the phrase "marinating" (copyrights are in order)..... shamelessly jumping his (cough) "unattainable" weight to fight JCC Jr. at 170...... I would say Canelo absolutely needs GGG. The one time he was gifted a shot at earned stardom, he was whitewashed by Floyd, who barely worked up a sweat while making Canelo (and those who put the match together) foolish.

If anything, it's GGG who doesn't need Canelo..... but somehow has Canelo on his mind. Can't be blamed, really, with all those millions and millions of reasons flashing before his eyes. But GGG needs Canelo to define his career like any of us needs a festering boil on our butt. Canelo finally overstayed his welcome at the top. Now he's just another cheater who swears he didn't do it...... cross his heart and hope to die.

Fortunately, the middleweight division is pretty stacked at the moment. Canelo can’t duck these fighters forever. Well I guess he can, but he will become insignificant if he ducks the whole division.

Yeah... my guess is Canelo comes crashing down to Earth when he's forced to start meeting guys his own size. Think JCC Jr. vs. Fonfara.

I agree, if Canelo doesn't fight these guys it will hurt him amongst us hard core guys. But he can wait until GGG gets old then capitalise. He can take a tune up after his ban (think Spike or Lemieux) the earliest then would be next May for GGG rematch, GGG would have to have fought one of the mandatories by then, more wear and tear. I can see Canelo and Co looking elsewhere for the time being. I think A fight with Murata would be pretty big, he could even try to snatch DeGale's belt or something like that. Dare I even say CEJ.

I want GGG to fight Canelo and get him out of the way to face the other challengers.

Well that was a very expected beating...I'm surprised GGG allowed Vanes to hit him at all. Vanes caught him good, it just didn't do anything to GGG, barely made him blink.

Is Canelo really in the way? He doesn't have a belt, nor is he a mandatory. He brings name value and $$$. GGG can fight other challenges if he chooses to.

Absolutely right. There is no need for GGG to fight Canelo, actually for anybody to fight Canelo. Let the fucker rot waiting for a relevant fight.
If the top guys ignore him , he and GBP are fucked, and it serves them right, not just for the Drug test, but also for how they’ve took the piss out of opponents with their bullshit catch weights.

It's hard to ignore those $$$ tho when they're on the table. Canelo and GBP has the money and power to entice anyone into the ring really. Look how they have manipulated GGG's career so far.

I would rather GGG fight another top contender and then Canelo fight another top contender and lose. If Canelo loses to another MW then he should be officially out of the spotlight.

Really trying to understand this post but we are separated by a common language.

First, someone is chinned when they are hit on the back of the head? I always assumed chinned had something to do with the chin.

Second, are you saying it is legal to hit someone on the back of the head when down? I certainly don’t think a DQ was in order. It happened too fast to stop his onslaught

How is it anything “American”? HBO is just crap for boxing now. Hopefully Eddie brings something quality to it. Interested to hear his announcement Thursday. Right now their cards with the little guys is the only thing quality

I didn’t watch because I don’t care for mismatches. Did they really bring race into it? It wouldn’t surprise me, HBO has been openly racist for decades. Absurd to even mention white, black, purple or whatever. They’re all just fighters
You've just proved the relevance of their nationality (we are seperated by a common language). You are confused by my vernacular (Eddie Hearn's too, for that matter) so have no idea whether or not i'm being serious or joking. Sarcasm and self-depreciation humour are common traits where I come from. By no means are you the only one, it's a common stereotype that Americans don't get irony, and through my experience of this forum I would say that is pretty apt, however, many Brits can't differentiate between the too either.

"Chinned" is not meant in a literal sense, it just means knocked down/out, punched in the boat (boat = face. It's rhyming slang - boat race/face). When I say "ironed out" it doesn't mean I literally think a fighter is using an iron on an opponent, it's just a colourful expression for a knockout, as the fallen fighter lays flat, stiff as a board (think Hatton-Pac).
I understand irony fine when I understand the vernacular. That’s why I asked for clarity. I appreciate it.
