I was in the reserves same as him, but I never boast about it. It was just a part-time job, one weekend per month and two evenings a week. It's very easy to at least get promoted to corporal in the reserves.

I'm the same age as Phillips, who like myself is a bit too young to have fought in Vietnam. I would never lie and tell people I fought in Vietnam.

What irks me is despite being a liar (saying he was a Ranger when he was a refrigerator repair man, saying he was honourably discharged, and saying he was in Vietnam) with a history of violence and jail time, he's a media darling, while some decent kids who did nothing wrong are being vilified and threatened with violence. It's an injustice.
