Japan is really impressive that way. Here there really is an abundance of fast food and so much is fried or instant. In Japan though they really do have small portions and less of the fast food influence. The people look really healthy and you see it in their life expectancy too.

Japan = 84.5
US = 78.9

Some real eye openers in there. It's difficult to wrap your head around more than a dozen countries with life expectancies in the 50's. Pretty depressing, really.
