Do you guys not find it sad that he shows up at an event such as this, only for people to question who it is? Although I can't say that I admire him, I will say that Floyd is correct to attempt to publicise himself and enhance his reputation. He is entitled to all the fame, glamour and accolades that are howered upon him now and I wish him luck in whatever he does.

However, here's my primary angle. Everything Floyd does, boxing does. If the general public see a young flashy healthy, superbly skilled champion as the face of boxing they may be attracted no?
I agree Donny. I don't see anything wrong with Floyd appearing on WWE.

I remember title of the first article I read about it was "Mayweather continues crossover mainstream appeal" or something along those lines.

I never had any interest in WWE, but enough people out there do. It is also a market which buys tickets and purchases PPV's...just like boxing. This was not a rushed decision by Mayweather, it was well thought out and he will reap many benefits from it.

He did the same thing by appearing on Dancing with the Stars (which hit a demographic completely outside of the typically boxing fan)

What is good for the P4P champ is good for the sport. I bet a lot of people have shown interest in Mayweather fights (whether they like him or not) over the past year that have never had any interest in boxing in the past.

Maybe they wanted him to wear his wig and fishnets and dance around with the other WWE girls

    Exactly.

People should be glad that Floyd is getting these opportunites to appear at different events, because it means that people in the entertainment world are paying attention to what is going on in boxing. That's a good thing.

Unfortunately, a lot of people here would rather just bash Floyd for everything he does, instead of taking the time to think about what it might mean for the sport as a whole.

I agree. The more he's out there in the public eye, the more people who will be interested in watching boxing...whether it's to see him win or to see him get his face smashed in. Exposure for Mayweather means exposure for boxing...that's a good thing in my opinion.
