Your look at this is the Old School way 1 champion and the rest contenders. I wish we still had it like that, by those standards PBF would have never amounted to much if he had to wait in line and earn his shot like the rest. Fact is it's not like that anymore. It is what is......

Cotto can easily take over PBF's p4p status if he beats him.

You all do know that this topic goes down the crapper if somehow hell freezes over on a blue moon night and Gomez beats Cotto

Cotto has a respectable record and good attitude about him, I think as much as people say that he was purposely boxing backward in the later rounds against Mosely though I think Mosely broke him down a bit so I think that will bode well for future opposition and their mental state as the fight wears on that Cotto can be grinded down as well... Diaz and Campbell was an eye opener Cotto has a tight guard but he takes alot of punishment as well, I mean Gomez could easily dig in and bring it to Cotto just like Campbell did Diaz in..

Cotto is great for the sport in terms of his sportsmanship, I really appreciate the humble guys like Lacy, Cotto, Hatton etc because they are always gracious. He is a superstar and if he beats Gomez and then Cintron or Margarito to set up a fight with Floyd and beat him then I think interstingly enough Cotto could steal Floyds legacy out from under him and Cotto would be remembered as this generations best(I felt dirty for even typing that)

But if Mayweather never fights Cotto after winning his next 2 then I will admit Floyd is a chicken shit ducker

Perhaps Cotto will be the first one to do so (I hope), but I just can't see it.

We do Mick... all you need to do is follow Ring magazine, it ain't a perfect system (which they freely admit) but it's better than any other current alternative.

By the way Floyd is a 2 weight ring champion (L & W) & had their policy been in effect when he fought Corrales it woulda been 3. The only other fighter to win championships in 2 weights is Hopkins... thats pretty good company if you ask me!

Cotto has a good resume and he is closing in on Floyde and Cotto has not been fighting as long so he playing catch up. I just hope if the fight happens and Cotto wins i hope people going to say Floyde was past it and take the credit away form Cotto for getting a win i have felling it will happen because Floyde going to sometime off. And if he comes back and loses to Cotto i can see alot of people taking credit away form him because cotto wins i hope to god he gets all the credit in the world i think hes going to win but be the fight of his life. But those are just some thoughts i just hope it happens before to long so we can get no excuses if Cotto does win the thing.
