    Silva Boxes Himself In

Silva wants Roy in the ring? Silva gets humiliated by Roy.
a spontaneous creation with multiple moods.

in boxing, yes, but silva is one of the truly talented mixed martial artist in the world. still a bit of a small pond, there are a lot of scrub in mma, but silva is'n't one of them. in mma, he takes roy down. silva has outstanding brazilian jiu jitsu.

They need to do a best of three with maybe chess or spelling as the third event as both will destroy the other in their own chosen sport.

In boxing Silva would get embarrassed by Roy and probably wouldn't land a punch.

In MMA Roy is unconscious on the floor with his arm broken and Silvas legs wrapped round his head sending him to Jesus inside the first 30 seconds.

I take Jones to win the chess match and spelling comps though unless the spelling is in Spanish

    I'd watch :-)

But if the boxing match is first, Silva may never recover from the brain damage he recieves!
If the MMA fight is first RJJ may never walk again after he is snapped in half!
Whoever had their chosen fight first would have a huge advantage!

HAHA im not taking u seriously by the way......

In a straight boxing fight, Roy could potentially hurt Silva very badly

Yea I really like Silva too, one of the only MMA fighters I really like to watch, very fluid athlete. But he'd be out of his mind to agree to box Roy Jones Jr.

Just found a recent interview where Ed Soares, Silva's manager, is talking more about the fight with Jones:

ED SOARES: "I THINK ROY JONES WOULD BE THE PERFECT OPPONENT!"

I don't know why Silva is thinking of this change though, he's very dominant in mma right now.
Only money will induce this change.

This sorta thing reminds of that film baseketball..were they start mixing sports..we'll have boxing mixed in with soccer punching eachother out or nfl playing baseball tackling the guys trying to get you out or whatever...Do they really need to swap sports to generate interest?? why don't roy jones just go up against a decent boxer at his weight so people will watch that...rather than going to mma and fucking about up there....mental if you ask me.

roy Jones isn't thinking about fighting in MMA, apparently Silva is considering boxing him. Would be great for boxing if it happened as Roy would kill him, that's the only reason I'd want to see it.

I don't necessarily think Roy would kill him.

Have any of you actually seen Silva box before? I mean seriously box before? I'm not talking about that footage of him sparring Big Nog or any footage of him floating around on YouTube. I'm talking have you ever seriously watched him boxing live before?

I have...up close and personal...and honestly, he does have some decent boxing skills. Is he as good as Roy was in his prime? No, but he, along with a select few other MMA fighters, actually does have some decent skills. And really, you don't have to be THAT good in order to lay hands on Roy. Tarver ain't all that...and neither is Glen Johnson. In fact, even slew-footed Felix Trinidad, who was coming out of 2+ year layoff, was able to touch Roy. If Silva had the fight lined up and solely trained boxing, I think he'd actually give Roy some problems given his height advantage, his reach advantage, his size advantage (oh yes, he's bigger than Roy) and the fact that he's a southpaw.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still favor Roy to win since, after all, he's Roy and the boxing ring is his home, but I don't think it would be the blowout that some of you guys think and honestly, I could see Silva touching those whiskers and clipping him...that would not surprise me at all.

That being said, Jones by boring unanimous decision as he plays it safe and just outpoints him.

I think you are selling a few guys short here. Johnson, Tarver and Trinidad not that great? Sure they may not be ATG but they'd destroy a guy who can 'box a bit' like Silva.
The 30th ranked LHW in the world has DECENT SKILLS(as u put it), but put him in with any of those guys and he'd get killed.
Just cos Silva looks like he has decent skills and is an athlete dont mean he can last with RJJ even if he is old and shot.
I cannot see Silva hitting RJJ at all cos he'd be too busy being punched from all angles.
Unless u got footage of Silva holding his own against a top 5 ranked fighter in sparring or something im still of the opinion that RJJ would clean his clock early.

U'd laugh if i came on here and said i saw RJJ doing a bit of wrestling and he seems to have decent skills i think he'd hang with Silva in MMA.

Who else thinks that IF, and thats a BIG IF, this match comes off, Roy Jones lets Silva go the distance and look decent. I think he'd pull that shit in a heart beat, much as I love Jones and think he's the greatest.
