Only socialist bankers will be bailed out Lyle. They may even be banking on that bailout.

Socialism in America only goes as far as the corporations. Almost no homeowners will be bailed out.
God you are just horrible to argue with.

Reagan had the IRAN/Contra scandal....where would Bin Laden fit in there? Bin Laden is a Sunni therefore it would have had to been a SAUDI ARABIA/Contra scandal for Reagan to give Bin Laden weapons....however I wouldn't doubt that the US did supply them during the USSR's war with Afghanistan but at that point in time no one knew who Bin Laden was or what he was about. Those were cases of your enemy's enemy is your friend and it didn't work out the way we wanted it to but hey there is no more USSR anymore now is there?

Now Bill Clinton gave weapons to AL QUEDA which is a Sunni terrorist group run by OSAMA BIN LADEN amongst others. Al Queda helped the ethnic Albanians in the fighting in Bosnia and Kosovo.

The American people were given a glimpse of what Bin Laden was all about when Oliver North testified before Congress.

And America gets you into ONE war and you're bitching and moaning about it non stop! America has been drug into more wars because of England and France than we can count....so you can't take some of your own medicine? Pussy
I'm horrible to argue with because I'm always right and so for somebody like you who is relentlessly wrong about everything I'm difficult to argue with.
Reagan gave Osama Bin untold millions and huge quantities of arms and training to set up his organisation in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda means "the base" or more accurately "the database" because the original list of Arabs who went to Afghanistan to fight jihad under Osama Bin became the founding members of AQ.

Reagan also dealt with Iran, who we're constantly told are a terrorist nation and the "central bankers of terrorism." Lumpy-faced nutjob and 2008 presidential candidate John McCain is claiming today that Iran are currently training Al Qaeda. We're also constantly told that no democracy and especially not America ever negotiates with terrorists yet Ronald Reagan did just that, trading them arms for hostages then lying about it to the American people.

Here's actual evidence to back that up from Ronnie's own mouth :

Let's start with the part that is the most controversial. A few months ago I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that's true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not.

    The Reagan Information Page:Speeches:Iran-Contra.

I'm sure you can back up your claims that Clinton gave AQ weapons.

And the US has been involved in over 80 foreign interventions just since WW2. Nearly two a year. Of the world's 190 countries the US has military bases in 130 of them, so don't go pretending that you really spend your time peacefully minding your own business.

Yes the US has been involved in many countries it is our right as the one true World Super Power to try and keep peace and keep other people in check, the Brits did it(and still do), the French and Spanish did it, the Romans did it, the Greeks did it, etc etc etc etc....if we didn't do anything #1 Our economy would suffer because people wouldn't want to trade with us without getting something in return more than likely assistance with government to keep their positions of power #2 People would hate us, maybe even more than when we DO intervene. The problem is picking the correct battles to fight....the one not fought today could be the World War III of the future.

As for Clinton aiding Al Queda....which side was the US on in Bosnia the Serbs or the Ethnic Albanians? I distinctly remember the US bombing the absolute crap out of the Serbs and amongst other things the Chinese Embassy there (oooops ). It was wrong not only to side with the Serbs because they weren't allied with terrorists like Al Queda who pose a legitimate threat to America but also because the Serbs' main allie is/was RUSSIA and that was not a wise thing to do so soon after the end of the cold war.

According to The Sunday Times, "American intelligence agents have admitted they helped to train the Kosovo Liberation Army before NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia"

United States President Bill Clinton's special envoy to the Balkans, Robert Gelbard, described once the KLA as, "without any questions, a terrorist group". Nevertheless, by February 1998, the KLA had been removed from the United States State Department's terrorism list

    Richard Holbrooke states:
"There were over 1,000 people in the country who belonged to what we then called Mujahideen freedom fighters. We now know that that was al-Qaida. I'd never heard the word before, but we knew who they were. And if you look at the 9/11 hijackers, several of those hijackers were trained or fought in Bosnia. We cleaned them out, and they had to move much further east into Afghanistan. So if it hadn't been for Dayton, we would have been fighting the terrorists deep in the ravines and caves of Central Bosnia in the heart of Europe"
Holbrooke is speaking of Article III in the Dayton Agreement which simply states all foreign forces must withdrawl from the Bosnia area and all this took place at the tail end of the Bosnian War 1992-1995....Kosovo happened later (1996-199 so I guess I was wrong about one thing.

Anywho, the US (under the guidance of Bill Clinton) helped the KLA and other muslim organizations during the Bosnian and Kosovo Wars and Al-Qaeda was an allie to the KLA and they fought in the Bosnian War and all during Bill Clinton's reign supreme as President of the United States. Clinton knew they were terrorists, took their terrorist organization off "the list" and helped them in their war despite knowing who was there, what they were about, and who else was helping them.

You've no doubt heard the Spiderman mantra before "With great strength comes great responsibility".....well as a World Super Power that still rings true and no matter what America does they will always always ALWAYS be considered wrong, oppressive, or "asleep at the wheel" by the groups of people we do not help or oppose. Ah, so Clinton didn't give weapons to Al Qaeda. And now you agree with me that the US does intervene in the world. Excellent.

No he didn't, he gave aid to a group which almost certainly contained a few AQ people. And it was official government policy carried out in the open and supported by Republicans.

You were trying to make the case that the US is rarely involved in wars when your foreign policy causes all this shit.

So America should just sit back and do nothing then? That would make everyone happy

It doesn't matter what America does in all honesty, we're the super power, we're expected to get involved in other countries.....it's not OUR fault some people get a little carried away with what our support means all we are trying to do is look after our own intrests.

The Republicans were against "nation building" (apparently only in the Balkans) and therefore thought we should stay out of Bosnia and Kosovo altogether.....the Republicans aren't always FOR war and the Democrats aren't always AGAINST war. Sure this was probably grandstanding against Clinton but hey they were correct.

It depends what you mean by "get involved", doesn't it? If "getting involved" means bombing another country to buggery and invading with hundreds of thousands of troops then I'm guessing that most countries would offer a violent reaction to that sort of "involvement." Especially, say, a country that contains the second-largest oil reserve in a region that's seen a century of imperial invasions and manipulations due to their oil reserves. Those people might not see that kind of "involvement" as "supportive."

Perhaps you could develop interests not related to oil and fancy weapons systems. Maybe then you wouldn't invite such violent reactions ?

I'm sure that most Americans would agree that bombing other countries to buggery is unlikely to bring about world peace.
