Alright they Donny mate.I see you made good use of the squash court,Nice idea!You utilized good punches and you have really good use and length on your jab.You had really steady positioning on your stance too.I know it was only a light spar but keep them methods up and you wont go far wrong in the great game of boxing.Keep it up!![]()
Good for practice good sparring partner to have, he seems to know what to try and expose for you. like that lead right hook around your close in lead left arm.
Theres room to play.
For fun and practice you could turn and face that hook with your left glove up first which nullifies it cause you moved your centre line,
throw the right from your chin straight away to cover his other hand and step out through his right hand with your left foot and body movment and weight shift as you throw your right hand ; your bigger so you can do that and turn him into your right hand by maintaining contact with it until you bodily stop. You heading left but shooting your right covers the path of his free hand too.The open square position they end in is not good for their balance.
Or step back slightly with your right foot so your head is just out of reach slightly and throw your left from inside his glove as you shuffle forwards so your head goes around his glove as your left lightly taggs him then go the left hook over the top of his reaction as you move in.
Like open up stance to just avoid, touch the opening ,close up stance with a following hook over his arm thats reacted to the first touch on the chin.

Yeah, he's a legend is Pat. We talk over everything and discuss what we want to do. That particualr day we were focusing on getting my defence back nice and tight. You can see he kind of feints in with a double jab, he sees that I've got the guard up that side and then tests the other side. for an mma guy he's got a decent stand up and he's surprisingly elusive for a guy with such a low guard.
Cool idea Andre. The one point I'll correct you on is my being bigger. I'm 71kg, he's near 82kg. He's veeeerrrry muscular, so I like to maintain my distance. I'm not sure if there are many uppercuts or hooks in there, but I like to duck down low and bring it to his body. (He in turn asks me to do that in order to work on his defence.)
I'll get him to upload some more, so you can see me sharp. I always use that step back idea for quick right hand counters.
Sometimes I just remain perfectly vetical, but when he throws a straight, I turn to the right with the elbow guard over the left of my face, blocking the punch, I then snap back as I turn with a straight right. It adds some nice power.

Cool vid hitmandonny. Wow i think you guys need to be real careful if you are going to do this sparring in a squash court often. Those walls are solid and your mates head was very close to hitting the wall after you got that nice right in. If it had hit the wall his brain would have hit the front of his skull when you hit him, then the back when it hit the wall and the front again after bouncing of the back of his skull. That can be dangerous. Otherwise you look good and yes like you said in my post similar to our guy shannon. Look forward to more videos from you.

Yeah it's risky training without headgear, let alone in a squash court.
But he's hardcore that guy. He's having his mma debut in summer and he'll fight anywhere anytime anyplace.
As for me I love boxing and jump at the opportunity to get sharp, squash court floors are a big help.
We used to train in a concrete handball alley before, very hard on the legs.
