Calzaghe could have thrown a million punches...but even after the third time watching this fight...most of his punches neither landed nor were effective. Sure, Hopkins tired out. Sure, Hopkins almost completely relied on one punch (straight right). And yes, he fought ugly towards the end. But that all being said...he landed more, cleaner punches. Joe sure looked busy...but most of his punches either missed or where pitter patter shots that weren't all that effective. American or British...could care less. And i have nothing personal against Joe...seems like a nice guy. I just think Calzaghe is a bit overrated and lost a close fight to a past prime Hopkins.
joe is 37 nearly,,he would have murdered hopkins in his prime, and joe won that fight, end of.

My 2 cents. I watched it twice, the first time with the sound muted so I couldn't hear the commentary. It was close, but I had Calzaghe winning. Later in the fight it seemed that Hopkins was just throwing one punch and then clinching. I had several rounds even, which seems to go against what most of the judges do in their scoring.

The last time I was actually drinking heavily and scored a fight it was Kelly Pavlik vs Jermain Taylor II.I actually remember the scores I had it
8-4 for Taylor. The next day I watched it again and said my god did I smoke anything while I was in my session.

I had the fight real close, there is arguments on both fighter's behalf but I'm glad Joe C got it.

There were too many close rounds this too be a clear UD. If you look back at my scorecard, and you give all 3 of Hopkins closely won rounds to Joe, maybe you would see it as "a clear UD."

I give credit for body work, and Hopkins landed tons of body shots on the inside to go with those straight rights, and there were some rounds where Joe barely landed a clear punch.

Like I said, Calzaghe won, barely, and for those of you who think he won a wide UD, a la 116-111. 1g5a22, please post your scorecard. I would love to see how you pulled that score off. I bet it looks exactly like Lederman's (cuz you're taking his word for it), and we all know that he's half blind and for that reason credits volume punchers way too much.

Are you Preme or SEANNIE under a new name?
